KINCARDINE , - Music and
laughter will again drift across the
moonlit waters of Lake Huron. The
Bluewater Summer Playhouse
opened its doors July 5 at the his-
toric Pavilion in Kincardine.
Long heralded as having the best
dance floor along the Lake Hhron.
shoreline, the 'Pav' as it is affec-
tionately called by area residents,
was built in 1922, and opened the
following year. The building has
. been used irregularly over the last
few years.
Bottrell
returns as
Patsy Cline
GRAND BEND - London native,
Marie Bottrell, returns to Huron
County Playhouse as one of country
music's brightest stars, PatSy Cline,
in A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline,
playing from July 5 to 23; in the
intimate cabaret setting of
Playhouse II.
All of Cline's classics are there:
Crazy, Watkin' After Midnight,
Hungry for Love, Always, I Fall to
Pieces, She's Got you, Back in
Baby's.Arms and many more. ••

teary eyed
GRAND BEND - "Lend -me a
Tenor", playing at the Huron Coun-
ty Playhouse July 5 to 16, is a
door -slamming' romp of mistaken
identities, torrid trysts and romantic
reconciliations.
If you love to laugh then this free
flowing, honest -to -goodness comedy
will leave you -in stitches.

On June 6, 1994, Wendy Diane
Miltenburg; daughter of Tony and
Stephanie Miltenburg, graduated
'rpm the University of Western
Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Honors Geography with
French She was on the Dean's
Honor List and received the
University Gold Medal for having the
highest standing in her program
Wendy will be continuing her stud-
ies at the University of Western
Ontario, Althouse College, to obtain
her Bachelor of Education Degree

Kincardine's new summer stock
theatre hopes to recapture some of
the Pavilion's former romance in its
presentation of Tight -hearted,
musical productions in a casual,
cabaret setting five nights a week
during the months of July and
August.
A great deal of work has gone
into restoring the Pav to some of its
former grandeur.
Bluewater's premiere production
"Blue Champagne" features nostal-
gic music from radio broadcasts of
the 1940s and pays tribute to an era
when the Pavilion was at its zenith.
The nostalgic production of swing
ballads and big band sounds
features over 75 songs from the era,
and features three Ontario per-
formers: Deanna Overland, Shelley
Simester and Eric Degray.

Blyth Festival establishes
play development fund
BLYTH - On the opening night
of the 20th anniversary season,. the
Blyth Festival announced the es-
tablishment of The Roulston Roy
Play Development Fund. The fund
will be specifically directed towards
the creation and development of
new scripts by Canadian writers
with a particular view towards
possible production on the Blyth
stage.
The Roulston Roy Play Develop-
ment Fund recognizes and honors
James Roy, Keith Roulston and
Anne Roy, the founders of the
Festival. The mandate for new play
development at Blyth began with
the first season' in 1975, when
James and Keith chose to take.. the
considerable risk :of ' presenting a
new Canadian play ."Mostly in
Clover", based on the work of
Huron County native Harry J.S.
Boyle. Over . the ensuing two
decades 65 new Canadian works
have premiered on the stage of
Blyth Memorial Community Hall.
The establishment of this fund will
enable the Festival to pursue its
truly unique mandate of developing
and presenting "our own stories on
stage" well into the future. ..
