paint recycling
LONDON - in the; spring,
Home Hardware Stores Ltd.
established a pilot project to
"take responsibility for the waste
created from the products they
manufacture." The first-time
retailer waste paint take back
program was started in London.
A news release says the com-
pany "hopes to provide their
customers with a safe and con-
venient disposal option for their
left over paint. Once this paint is
received back into a Home store
it will be sent back to their own
manufacturing facility to be
recycled into a good quality
paint product."
In order to protect the integrity
of their recycled product, Home
will "only accept back their own
paint.
The Ministry of Environment
.requires a one year pilot study in
one location to be successfully
completed before additional
stores can be certified.
Hanover airport
will expand
HANOVER - An increase in
provincial funding will allow the
further development of the
Saugeen Municipal Airport. The '
$236,000 will be used to support
the construction of a new and
improved airport terminal. Last
year, through provincial funds,
the taxiway was completed. The
existing airport terminal. was to •
be expanded, however, the
Saugeen Municipal Airport Com-
mission has since determined it
would be more practical and cost
effective to build a new terminal
building.

celebrates
60th
anniversary
Peter and Evelyn Cook, of Luck -
now, were honored last ..Sunday
when family and friends gathered to
wish them the best on the occasion.
of their 60th wcdding anni ersary.
They were married on June 30,
1934, at the bride's parents' home
in Ashfield Township, with Rev,
•W.J. Patton officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Cook lived on the
12th of Ashfield for 36 years. They
have been "town folk" for 24 years.
Mr. Cook farmed and also did
cement work and roofing before his
retirement.
Mrs. Cook was organist at the
Zion United Church for 15 years.
She is currently a member of the
United Church Women and plays
the piano for unit meetings.
Both have been members of the
Lucknow United 'Church since
moving to town 24 years ago. .
They have three children: Lorne
Cook, Ivan, Cook and Elaine Steer;
10 grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren..

She also told .the board residents
of Bruce County consider environ-
ment protection a "critical issue ,
when dealing with a nuclear site:
"The community residents, for the
most part, choose to live in the
geographic area because of the
minimal impact on the environment
due to the nuclear plant as com-
pared to alternative energy produc-
ing sources."
