Community fund-raising projects
cdntributed more than $18 million
to heart and stroke research this
year, For the last (bur decades,
cardiac research and health
promotion have helped to reduce
the death rate from heart disease
and stroke by 50. per cent,
However, heart disease and stroke
continue to kill more peoplethan
all other diseases combined!
The Heart and Stroke Foundation
of Ontario funds two-thirds of all
heart and stroke research in Ontario
- it is supported by individual
donations, with virtually no
government funding. Still, much
research goes unfunded each year.
