Raffle has a two -fold benefit: Volunteers and businesses across' Huron County are aiming to raise. $3000 for heart disease and. stroke research by participating in the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Huron Chapter's special event "Children's Dream Home Raffle." The raffle prize . is a beautiful' little house which, was constructed and donated by Don Watson Home Hardware and Bill'Heibien of Gor- rie and.Tagalong Stables, Fordwich. The home measures 8' x 6' x 4', is made of pineboard siding and has heart shaped windows, it also has a covered front' porch. Furnishings built and donated by Roy Elliott of Vanastra will also be awarded to theChildren's Dream Horne winner on Aug. 1, • 12 noon, at Zehr's Market in Goderich, which is where the playhouse will be on display. Still, much research goes unfunded each year. Support your local Heart and Stroke chapter and help improve our odds against Canada's number one killer. Bob MacKenzie returns from trip to Normandy. Bob• MacKenzie has returned home after spending 13 days in England and Normandy where he attended the memorial services in honor of the invasion of France 50 years ago, As part of the invasion force he received a medal recog- nizing him for his participation: Cameron Finlayson of Toronto passed away June 12. His funeral service was held Wednesday in Toronto with burial in Lochalsh Cemetery. Mr. Finlayson is sur- vived by two sisters, Anna who spends 'her summers in Lucknow, and Christine of Toronto, also his sister-in-law Betty Finlayson. Merle Elliott, formerly of Luck - now, passed away in Kincardine Hospital J.une 14 with her funeral service on Friday at MacKenzie and McCreath's. Sympathy is extended to these families as they mow -n the loss of their loved ones. Marion Calvert of Vancouver. Island is visiting with Isabel Gar- niss at Wingham. Having grownup in Lucknow, and living here with her husband who taught in the high school, she has been 'renewing acquaintances with many of her friends. Marion Reid and Irene McAllister of Chesley spent a few days last week with their sister, Mildred and Austin Loree. While in Lucknow, Marion visited with Allene Bradley, who she had boarded with at Strat- ford Normal School over 55. years ago. The sisters also visited other. relatives, including Uncle Gordon Stobo at Teeswater and attended the strawberry • supper at the Pres- byterian Church. / Their was a good crowd attending Ruth Conley's auction sale last LUCKNOW by Mildred L.nre Wednesday evening. Anyone that attended the Kinsmen Summerfest on the weekend couldn't say that didn't get a warm welcome in Lucknow as the temperatures were in the thirties. . Bill and Mae Hunter spent the•: weekend in Sarnia visiting son Dale and Brenda, Joe and Joshua. • Their grandson Joshua received his Chief Scout award on Saturday at the MacKenzie High School, Sarnia. Joshua's dad, Dale, is Scout leader of the 15th Sarnia Scout Troop and assisted with the awards. Joe was a flag' bearer presenting the Venture colors. Six tables of shoot were in play at the Drop in Centre last week when Dorothy Riordan and Wes Young captured the high spots. ; In low positions, were Lynn Wall and Joe Courtney, with Patrick Ritchie taking the most shoots. Greenhill Cemetery was the scene of a quiet family • gathering on Saturday when the ashes of R.A. (Al) Hamilton were laid to rest after being received from the Anatomical Research Centre ' in •Gainsville, Florida. The .family is deeply. appreciative of the memorial donations made at the time of Al's,death in November 1993. Over $2,000 was received by the Lucknow United Church, Arena Building Fund, Masonic Cryptic Rite Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Huron County Children's Aid Building and the Ronald Mac- Donald House. Kelly Stevenson of the Lucknow Rookies slugs the ball last Thursday night in the Lucknow Kinsmen Summerfest slo-pitch tournament. The Rookies lost their game against the Beigrave team. The tournament was held last Monday through Sunday at ball diamonds in Dungannon and Lucknow.
