Anna May Hunter hosted the meeting at her home. Gwen Lennips welcomed everyone and read the poem "God's Work". Mrs. Hunter and Laura Steffler formed the program committee. Mrs. Hunter read an article - Mis- sion is God working with us to bring about the fullness of life, God wills for us. Mrs. Steffler read the scripture from Matthew 25. Mrs. Hunter's meditation was on how retired people volunteer at schools, thus helping teachers with difficult classes. The pupils enjoy the good friendships they make with the seniors, and learn a great deal from them. This is one form of mission. Mrs. Steffler told about an elderly tramp that lived on the streets. When children realized he wasn't on the street, they found him in the hospital. As a result, he was moved to a retirement home. The children got clean clothes for him and visited with him. He was no longer lonely. This is mission too. Ella Hackett read another article on mission, showing how it is the work of God who arrives unexpec- tedly and powerfully in situations of despair, conflict and death. Grace Gibson explained the faith which leads people of God into a path of mission and Mrs. Lennips stated we don't undertake mission alone. God draws us into com- munities of people that need our care and help. We must be alert to the needs in our community and the world, and by faith go forth to help wherever the need may be - that is mission - reach out and inspire someone! During the business portion, 12 ladies answered the rollcall with "a way our church supports missions." Many different projects were men- tioned. Noma Campbell gave the treasurer's report and received the offering, the birthday offering and Least Coin. Lunch was served and in the social time that followed, Unit 2 joined in for a hobby sale with Mrs. Steffler acting as auctioneer.
