Churches observe Christian Family Sunday
Christian Family Sunday com-
monly known as Mother's Day, was
observed in churches on May 4.
In the Lucknow United Church,
Murray and Lori Cox were received
into membership by transfer of
certificate. The. Sacrament of Bap-
tism was observed for Brittany
Lynn Gibson, daughter of Brian and
Ava, Zachery William Everson, son
of Rodney and, Janette and Jordon
Ryley McPherson, son of Steve and
Gail.
This past Sunday, Religion and
Life Badges were presented to
fourteen Brownies, Guides, Path-
finders and Scouts that had
completed their requirements, also
to leaders Wilma Blake, Joan Fin-
lay and Jim Finnigan.
Rev. J. Neilson was the guest
minister at Lucknow and South
Kinloss Presbyterian churches on
May 8. At Lucknow the Sacrament
of Baptism was held for Gina
Marie, daughter of Allan and Jacky
Murray and Kara Elizabeth Ann,

Hendriks. The ladies were all
treated to special music provided by
the men's choir. •
Tom and Shirley Bonnernan of
London, a lay couple representing
the Bible Society, conducted the
services May 15 in the absence of
Rev. Kinsman.
On May 7 a very successful yard
sale was held on the Presbyterian
Church lawn when over $800 was
raised to go towards the Crop Share
Project which is a Mission Outreach
of the Church.
Freda Maclnnes visited recently
with her son Jack and his family in
Palmerston. Last week Angela Bell
of Etobicoke spent a few days
visiting with Freda.
Jackie Dagg of London, as well
as her brother Jeffrey and his
girlfriend Paula of Oshawa, all
spent Saturday night in Lucknow
with their grandparents Clare and
Anna Johnstone and enjoyed their
grandfathers' 80th birthday party at
the Legion on Sunday afternoon.
Many friends and relatives attended.
Austin and Mildred Loree spent
last week in Listowel with their
grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeff and
Matt while their parents, Bob and
Debbie, enjoyed a holiday in the
Caribbean.
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs
Elders Geertsma of Wheeler St.
who celebrated their 59th wedding
anniversary on May 17.
There were six tables of Shoot in
play at the Drop in Centre. High
lady was Anna Dexter; low lady,
Isabel Kilpatrick; high man, Joe
Courtney; low man, Harold
Gardner. Most shoots went to Andy
Scott.
Hosts spring tea to end session
President Kim Harper welcomed
guests to the tea and program to
close the spring session of CGIT.
Leader Doreen Mali introduced
the leaders and updated on the
CGIT foster sister in Kenya and the'
successful Easter egg project.
World friendship badges were
,presented to first year girls by
leader Amy Austin: She told about
the. Caribbean Mission Study and
the group sang "Living Love."
Leader Laura Lee Cayley gave a
year end review and gave atten-
dance awards to Sherri McCracken,
Andrea Hiller, Kim Harper, Melin-
da Donnan, and ,Heather. Mac-
Donald.
Worship was a Lanyard service
for Kim Harper led by leaders

A video of the Fergus Rally was
viewed and the Lost Son skit was
presented by those who attended.
The CGIT sang two songs Teamed
at the Rally. Nine girls did a poem
called "My Mom Is a Square."
1995 will be the 80th Anniversary
of CGIT. Celebrations will include
a Jamboree camp in Owen Sound
and two anniversary remembrance
books which will travel all across
Canada.
The evening closed with Taps.
Fourteen earn
religion/life
badges
Fourteen young people earned
the Religion and Life Badge.
through Guiding and Scouting
Associations on May 15. These
youth spent 10 weeks earning
this badge, under the supervision
of Rev. Wm. Bresnahan, at the
Lucknow United Church.
Presented with badges ,. and
certificates during the Sunday
service were: Lori Blake, Lola
Bridges, Angela Irvin, Whitney
Taylor, Jennifer Beyersbergen,
Cindy Willits, Lynn Irvin, Dar-
lene Aitchison, Amy Blake,
Michael. Hofer, Jeff Weber,
Michael Mali, Gordon Schill and
Johnathan Finnigan.
Three leaders who completed
the session were Wilma Blake,
Joan Finlay and Jim Finnigan.
