"Oh No!" My pen ran out!" The
Grades 7 and 8 have been using a
lot of pens lately because they have
been writing stories for creative
writing. The stories have to be at
least 1500 words, and could be
about anything the students wanted
to write about: adventures,
mysteries, scary stories... and the
list goes on. The titles range from
'It's All Okay', to 'On the Hill, In
the Snow,' to 'The Heart That
Never Stopped Beating.' After
looking at some of the stories, we
decided they were definitely worth
reading!
"Crack... look at that ball go!"
The sixth, seventh and grade eight
students have been busy practicing
their baseball skills. They are to
compete -in an annual baseball tour-
nament, on May 16, in Ooderich.
What do Beethoven, Strauss, and
Rogers have in common? They're
all composers! The sixth, seventh,
and eighth graders have been doing
a project on composers for a music
assignment. The students have
learned many new things: The
Sound of Music was written by
Rogers and Hammerstein, • and
Beethoven played the piano even
though he was losing his sense of
hearing.
How do you work for wildlife?
the Grades 6, 7, and 8 are going to
the Wawanosh Nature Centre to

learning how to conserve wildlife,
and how they can. help keep the
wildlife. . '
What's so interesting about a
forst? Well, when the first and'
second grade classes' teacher, Mrs.
Noakes took them on a tour of a
forest on the school property, they
found out. They saw trilliums, small
trees still growing, • and were
amazed to find that a bird has made
its nest in a large hole in a tree.
On the subject of plants, the

about the prospect of touring the
Wingham Hospital and finding out
what equipment is used in a
hospital, and why. The students will
also get to see the different areas of
the hospital.
Can you name me three bugs?
The Kindergarten through Grade 3

Centre •to learn about bugs and
other small animals. .Their unit,
titled, It's a Small World, will
explain more about small inver-

What do bubbles, boots, and bugs,
alt have in dbmmon? The Grades 4
