the annual spring concert.
From start to finish the actors not
only kept the audience in stitches,

doing it.
Obviously, a great deal of time
and effort went into .the music,
costumes, props and lighting. Thank
you to all for a very enjoyable
evening.

,After months of deliberation, the
board of directors of the North
Huron Special Transit Corporation
has approved a change in the rate

travelled. The basic rate of $2.50
will remain the same for clients
who travel up to eight kilometres
on a one-way trip. For trips of more
than eight kilometres, the fee will
increase 25 cents for each ad-
ditional four kilometres.
Vicky Piluke, chairperson of
Wheels Away, says, "The Wheels
Away fee schedule has been a
concern for the board of directors
for some time now. Both clients

RN's committed to new
health care direction
"Nurses make the difference" is
the theme for national Nursing
WeekMay9to 15.
Canadians are proud of having
one of the world's best health care
systems. The whole focus of health
care has moved from treating only
illness, to health promotion and
disease prevention. It means that
individuals, like you, are en-
couraged to actively participate in
maintaining your own health.
Registered nurses are committed
to this new direction in health care.
They provide health promotion
illness prevention, illness care,
support and rehabilitation to in-
dividuals and their families.
Registered nurses play many dif-
ferent roles: teacher, counsellor,
client advocate, researcher and
consultant. They are college or
university -educated professionals
who work in partnership with other
health care practitioners to provide
health care to individuals, families
or communities.
In the hospital, the registered
'nurse is an integral member of all
hospital care teams, responsible for
co-ordinating all aspects of hospital
care, providing emotional support
and ensuring that comfort and treat-
ment needs are met.
In the community, the registered
nurses in public health are experts
in developing and delivering
programs that promote and maintain
health and prevent illness. In Grey
& Bruce counties, some examples
are: active parenting series and
healthy senior programs.
Home care case managers col-
laborate with clients and with ser-
vice -delivery partners like partaking
therapists, nurses, social workers to
focus on client needs and strengths
to coordinate health care in your
home. s
Visiting nurses, like the Victorian
Order of Nurses and Community
Nursing Services, provide the re-
quired care and monitor your
progress when you choose to
. recuperate at home - ' freeing
hospital beds for those who require
extensive or complex care.
Occupational health nurses
promote wellness and provide
health counselling in -the workplace,
reducing injuries and illness and
decreasing the need for costly
medical care.
Nurse practitioners have special
education for assessing, implemen-
ting and evaluating your wellness
needs. The present government is
expanding the usage of this
registered nurse in Ontario.
Regardless of the setting in which
they work, registered nurses are
committed to providing holistic
care.

Some sites will be full sooner than others and
