Many visitors at Christian School
The• halls arc alive with the sound
of visitors! On Apr. 20, Lucknow
and District Christian School held
its annual open house for anyone
who wanted to tow- the school and
see the students explain 'their
science fair projects.
Then on Friday, it was
.' Grandparents and Seniors Day.
Grandparents arc special, and to
celebrate them the school put on a
special program. • Every class
contributed .something, and many
did crafts for the grandparents to
• admire.- The kindergarten • class
painted pictures of their
'• grandparents, while the : first and
second grades told .the story of
' "The Good Samaritan" in song and-
: drama. Grades 3-8 learned "Ode to
Joy" on their recorders especially
- for the grandparents' day program,
while - the fifth and sixth grades
LDCS EXPRESS
presented skits, jokes and poems --
some of which they'd written them-
selves. The Grade 8 class did a
fashion show of different and 'un-
ique' outfits including a newspaper
print outfit, 5 -carrot necklace and
burlap "sack" dress.
We love books! Reading is an
important part of education, 'and
from Grade 3 to Grade 8 the
students have been doing novel
studies, . Grade 3 is studying
"Strange Lake Adventures" while
Grade 4 reads through "Road to
Agra". Grade 5 can't wait to find
out how "Owls in the Family" will
tum out, Grade 6 finds "I .am
David" quite interesting, and Grades
7-8 are enjoying the antics of Anne
in "Anne of Green Gables.
"Do you know that plants need
food?" The Grade 1-2 class has
been. ',doing a unit on. plants.
They've found out what makes
plants grow, and that some plants.
can make their own• food. The
students have done an experiment
to see what will happen to a plant
leaf if you cover it with black
construction paper, and they've
even planted their own seeds. The
children chose the kind of seeds
they wanted to plant and are caring
for them to help them grow.
"Craack...A11 right...It's a home
run!" The Grades 6, 7, and 8 have
been busy brushing up- on their
softball skills. The students will be
participating in a baseball • tour-
