Sod Busters sharpen plowing skills
Jim Armstrong, a competition
plowing judge. from Walkerton,
demonstrated the parts and ad-
justments of a plow during the
Brute County 4-H Sod Busters
Plowing. club's first" meeting, on
Apr. 20. Leaders for the: group. are
Michael Hunter and John Gillespie
(junior leader).
This club consists of seven
meetings. Members are encouraged
to work together in pairs and share
equipment. Special arrangements
for equiprhent and equipment
transportation can be made in ad-
vance,
: Numerous area businesses are
assisting the club through sponsor-
ships and equipment transportation.
Objectives of the club are 'ear -

ning the parts and adjustments of a
plow by installing new parts, match
plowing theory, tillage and soil
health. Special guests include Alf
Brunton and Brian McKinnon, com-
petition plowmen.
The meetings are open'to all who
are interested. Volunteer assistants
are still needed,. For more infor-

Trinity 4-H
The first meeting of the Trinity 4 -
photography club was held Apr.
20 at the home of leader Connie
Mildred visits in Stratford
Mildred McClenaghan visited for
a few days last week with Fern
Pollock, of Stratford.
Norma Rintoul and Jean Ross
attended the Arthritis Society's
annual meeting and dinner at the
Knights of Columbus Hall, Walker-
ton.
Attending the Hamilton -London
Synodical meeting at St. Andrew's,
Wingham, last week were Kathleen
Elliott, Mildred Pardon; Jean Ross,
Dora Neilson and Norma Rintoul.

The .Whitechurch 4-1-1 club's
achievement program for "Start
WHITECHURCH
by Jean Ross
Your Day Right" was held Apr: 16,
in the hall, with a sit down break-
fast 'for the _parents, .institute
executive and 4-H members.
After the breakfast, Ruth Laidlaw
of Dorchester demonstrated .a wide
variety of garnishes.
Awards were given out by Sharon
Gardner of OMAFRA. Kathleen.
Elliott received a certificate in
honor of 25 ..years as a 4-H leader.
Black. The other leaders arc Janet
Caesar and Carolyn Menary.
The 12-menier group will be
called the "Trinity Photoflashers".
Officers for the club include:
president, Kathryn Alton; vice, Lisa
Caesar; secretary, Carolyn Andrew
and news reporter,.Sara Campbell.
The. members discussed briefly
the different cameras they had
brought to use for the club project.
The next meeting is Apr. 27 when
the group will visit Carman
Cameras,.Goderich.

achievement in Business Ad-
ministration Accounting course at
Conestoga College, Doon Campus,
placed him in second position.
Jeff and Alix are especially proud
of their father's accomplishment.
Word, was received here of the
death of Mabel Larsback, 96, in the
Fairview (Alberta) nursing home.
Mrs. Larsback was the daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs, Torn
Johnston. She married Medford
Elliott in 1913 and they lived in the
Dungannon area until 1918 when,
with their two children, they moved
to the Olds, Alberta area. Three
more children were born.
Mr. Elliott died in 1921. She later
married Joseph Larsback and they
had six children. She will be
remembered for her great com-
munity spirit and kind hearted ways
to others.
Warming up the vocal chords - The Waterloo Regional Police Male Chorus performed In concert
at St. Joseph's Church, Kingsbridge, on Sunday. Funds raised from the performance will go
