Dell Elizabeth Durnin
1906 - 1994
Dell Elizabeth Dtunin, of Mait-
land Manor Health Care Centre,
Goderich, died at her residence on
Apr. 19, 1994. She was 88 years
old.
Mrs. Durnin was a retired school
teacher, and a member of the Dun-
gannon. United Church.
She was born in. Apple Hill, On-
tario; on Apr. 7, 1906, to the late
James and Christine (McBain)
McIntyre.
Mrs. Durnin was predeceased by
her husband Thomas Marvin Dur-
nin, and a brother Hugh McIntyre.
The funeral was held . at the
McCallum and Palla Funeral Home,
'Goderich, on Apr. 21, with Rev.
Dr. Rick Magie officiating.
Pallbearers were Brian. Whitely,
Bill Whitely, Eric Moore and Allan
MacNab.
Interment Dungannon Cemetery.
Marion Grace Shier
1924 - 1994
Marion Grace Shier, of Goderich,
died at Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital, Goderich, on Apr.
18, 1994. She was 69 years old.
Mrs. Shier, a housewife; was a
memberof the Ashfield Pres
byterian Church.
She was born in Halifax, N.S. on
Oct. 5, 1924, to David and Minnie
(Johnson) Llewellyn. She married
Walter James Shier. Both her hus-
band and het mother survive her;
her father predeceased her.
Mrs. Shier, is also survived by
nine children: Catherine and George
, Townsend, of : Norwich Alice
Carter, or Calgary; Helen and )Bob

Desforges, Lloyd Llewellyn," Les
Shier and Lionel Carter.

'Marion M. Emerson
1916-1994
Marion M. Emerson, of R. R. 3,
Ripley, died at the Kincardine and
District Caeneral Hospital, on Apr.
15, 199411, in 'her 79th. year. Mrs.
Emerson was a retired . teacher
having taught in Lindsay and
Eastnor Townships, Lion's Head,
Ripley and Wingham.
She was a member of the Ripley
United Church, Eastern Star Chap-
ter # 353, and a life member of the
Purple. Grove`Women's Institute.
For . many years, Mrs. Emerson
was involved with her family in the
purebred Charolais Cattle As-
,sociation. She was a baseball en -

thusiast and an avid Blue Jay fan.
The former Marion Bell was born
on Apr. 13, 1916, in Huron
Township.
She married George Emerson in
Allenford on June 30, 1937 -
Mrs. Emerson is survived by two
sons: Robert Emerson and Jane
Herron, of R.R. 3, Ripley, Dr.
James Emerson of Watford, and a
daughter-in-law, Frances Emerson
of Blenheim; sisters, Annie Shiells
of Lucknow, Catherine Jamieson of
Woodstock, and Tena Campbell of
Amberley, and a brother, Mac Bell
of f Goderich.
She is also survived ' by
grandchildren Susan Emerson of
'Blenheim, and Frank Emerson of
Wisconsin, and two great
grandsons, Matthew and David
Emerson.
Mrs. Emerson was predeceased by
her . parents Jack and Sadie
(MacLean) Bell, her husband
George in 1984, a brother William
John .Bell, and two sisters Margaret
England and Jean Bell.
The Eastern Star Bruce Chapter #
353 held a memorial service' on
Apr. 18. at . the MacKenzie and
McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley.
The service was conducted by Rev.
V. Wilkie, of the Ripley United
Church, on Apr. 19, at the funeral
home.
Flower bearers were
granddaughter Susan Emerson and
great grandsons, Matthew and
David Emerson.
Pallbearers were Don Robertson,
Roy Collins, Dick McCosh, Johnny
Collins, Robert Thompson and
Morley Scott.
Interment Ripley Cemetery.
Spring Fling raises $4500
for Seniors Day. Centre
Over .$4,500 was raised for the
Wingham and Area Seniors' Day
Centre ,at the annual Spring Ring
event, on Apr. 9 at the Teeswater
Community Centre.
Tim Sullivan, a social worker at
the Wingham and District Hospital,
acted as master of ceremonies for
the evening. Over 60 door prizes
were donated by local businesses.

Skating club
elects new
executive
The executive of ` the Lucknow
Figure Skating Club met recently
and elected a new executive, which
includes past president, Sandra
Morrison; president, Lori Cox;
secretary, Cathy Drennan; assistant
Betty Ross; treasurer, Brian Knech-
tel; test day co-ordinator, Crystal
Elliot; skater development, Sandra
Morrison; badges and carnival
achievement night chairperson,
Marilyn Murray.
Expectations of the 'executive,
parents and skaters were discussed
'with increased communication as a
goal. More opportunities for skating
skills to be tested 'will be available
next year, as well as an interclub
competition Feb. 19 in Clinton.
Lucknow will also host a skater
development clinic for this area
(Western Ont. Section). Junior
coaching .clinics will be held in the
fall. If sufficient interest is shown,
and ice time available a precision
skating team could be formed.
On Aug. 28 a skate and dress
exchange will be held. from 1 - 5
p.m. in Seaforth with each club
having a table. This is a chance' to
sell outgrown equipment or pick up
some good used items.
The next meeting will be.May 24
and figure skating parents are wel-
come to come and learn more about
the club and how it works.
