Grove folks
enjoy evening
of cards
A small crowd enjoyedan
evening of cards at Purple Grove on
Friday. Some of our winners were
Harvie Thompson, Wilma, Sutton,
Sara Holenby, and Myrtle Percy.
Valerie Gibson and son Dan of
London visited last week with Alma
and Don Gillies.
Isobel Brook, Mary Black and
Natalie and Kimberly visited with
Don and Anne McCosh.
Joyce and John Farrell and girls,
Irene and Francis Boyle, Don and
Anne McCosh and Maryanne
Kukoly celebrated Tania's 16th
birthday on Thursday with Sam and
Heather Finnie and family.
A great crowd enjoyed the 'Hot
Dinner' at St. Andrew's on Sunday..
Anne and Don McCosh visited
with Alma and Don Gillies on
Sunday.
Happy Birthday to Matthew
McGillivray who was nine years
old on Apr. 26.
June and Earl Elliott visited on
Thursday with Ian and Sherry
Elliott in Bracebridge and then
travelled. to Niagara F'alls to visit
with Earl's Aunt Marret Hogins and
St. Catharines to visit with Ken and
Glen and Ken and Doreen Hogins.
Sympathy is extended to the
family of Eltson Hogins of -Silver
Lake who passed away suddenly on
Thursday.
The 4-H Sewing Club met
Monday, Apr. 25 at the home of
Marilyn Moulton. For more

The variety store was built 70
years ago by Mr. Black, a mech-
anics teacher at a technical school
local tradesmen,

of the Lighthouse Variety on the
May. 24 weekend marked the begin-
ning of the summer in Point Clark.

about 20 years ago when George
Witteveen kept it open . all year
round."

"The building was all tinder dry,'.
It wasn't long in burning."
He said the meals in the store
were good.
"It was well run. Everyone knew
about it. A lot of the tradesmen will
miss it.
"Four years ago, when construe-
tion was booming in the area, you
would see cars parked right to the
corner at lunch time."
A benefit dance will be held at
the Point Clark and Huron District
Community Centre in the near
future.
