COC making big, plans for annual Western Days • Considerable attention was given to plans for the May long weekend Western Days event, hosted by the Lucknow and District Chamber of ,,. Commerce, when they met Apr. 3. Permission has been obtained from MTO to close off the main street from Bain's to Pizza Delight between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. Entertainment throughout the day will be held in this area and the cordoned off block will allow . shoppers to mingle easily. Various forms of entertainment are 'planned including a western roping demonstration by a local cowboy, square dancing and western line dancing demonstrations, and • stagecoach rides: A tack exchange will also be field during the weekend events at the Lucknow Farm Supply. Parents will be interested in taking advantage of the Child Find 'Kids' Check. All business people are advised to dress in western garb. If they don't they willlfind themselves thrown in jail, only to be released on bail of $5. Proceeds from this will go to the Phase II arena fund. Approval was given for adver- tising budgets for CKNX and local papers. More details willfollowin the paper later. Irene Dickie, president of the local Chamber, will be attending the annual May convention in, Rich- mond Hill. Information was given on various courses available to business people through the LEAD Corporation. Anyone interestedshould contact Irene Dickie. Lucknow Women's Institute hold their annual meeting The Lucknow Women's Institute enjoyed a pot luck dinner as a prelude to their annual meeting last week. Fourteen• members attended and answered the rollcall with the paying of dues.. The standing reports were received. Barry Kilpatrick has returned home from visiting with Mr. and Mrs: Lloyd Cavanagh at Goulais River in norther Ontario, along with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Reed of Desbarats. Anna May Hunter accompanied her sister Gwen Parker to Kirkland Lake last week where they attended the funeral of Gwen's mother-in- law. On Friday funeral services, were held at MacKenzie and McCreath at 1 p.m. for Charlotte MacKenzie of London, formerly of Ashfield Township, and at' 3 p.m. for Nor- man McDonald who had passed 11111111 by Mildred Loree UCKN•OW away at Victoria Hospital, London on Wednesday. Sympathy is ex- tended to relatives and friends of the deceased. Sympathy is also extended to Anne Shiells on the passing of her sister, Marion Emerson of R. R. 3 Ripley and to Isobel (Douglas) Garniss of Wingham on the sudden passing of her husband, Bert. It was good to see Rev. Gerald McFarlane of Mount Forest at the ham supper at the United Church on Sunday. John and Janet Johnstone of Ajax were visiting his parents Gordon and Bernice Johnstone on the weekend. Congratulations go out this week to Jennie Porteous who celebrates her 93rd birthday on Apr. 2L Hap- py birthday; Jeanie! Mr. and Mrs: Ross Shiells will be. married 59 years on Apr. 23. Best wishes to you both. Former restaurateur is still in the kitchen by Pat Livingston Mary Lou Raynard, the former owner of Buffy's Burger. Bar, may be out of the restaurant business, but she's still confined to the kitchen - at her own choosing. Raynard, using the knowledge gained during seven Years in the food industry, embarked upon a similar career .she runs from her Havelock Street, home. Country Citchen Catering was established when the new owners of her former business expressed no desire in continuing a. catering line she had developed in conjunction with the restaurant. Raynard's logo "delivered from our kitchen to your's" says it all. No matter the number you want to feed, no matter the type of food you desire, Raynard will cook it and deliver it. She says, "There seemed to be a need for this type of service. There are a lot. of older ladies who cannot bake anymore, and a lot of younger ones who simply don't have the time to do it."
