A non-profit, non-government
organization, CODE, has been
supporting innovative literacy
and education fn the developing
world since 1959.
Through the various fund-
raising methods listed above,
students at Lucknow Central
Public School were able to
produce 120 kits each containing
a scribbler, ruler, pencil, and
rubber in a ziplox bag, which
Will also be used some way in
the household it reaches. When
the scribbler is filled, the owner
rubs out the entries and then
gives it to a sibling to use.
Many thanks to Dale Gilchrist.
who helped locate some
economical scribblers; to Dave
and Wilma at Umbachs for
ordering rulers, pencils and
rubbers; to an interested group
of ladies at Kinlough Anglican
church for a generous donation,
and to teachers who donated the
$60 shipping fee.
Bruce County made the
education . newsletter this year
because of the great effort in
supporting this worthwhile en-
deavor.
The next time ' you see
someone wasting paper, think of
a little one rubbing out all the
pencil marks in a scribbler.'

Leanne Massena, Ian Tyler and Marcella Kranenburg were instrumental in producing 120 Project

LDCS holds special Easter assembly
by Bethany Luchies
and Jessa Kuyvenhoven
" . Up from the. grave He
arose..." On Mar. 30 the Lucknow
and District Christian School held
an Easter assembly in honor Of
Jesus' death and resurrection.
.A big thank you to Robert
Datema who portrayed Peter; one of
Jesus' disciples. Robert told the
story of Jesus' death and resurrec-
tion from a disciple's point of view.
The students sang songs, then
Grade 5 and 6 recited a poem about
the resurrection. After more songs
the kindergarten and Grade 1 and 2
class shared an Easter song they'd
learned. Altogether the program
was a success and a tribute to God.
Snip.snip..snip., "Hey.. that's not
the paper.. that's my hair!"
Everyone at LDCS has been doing
Easter crafts. The first and second
graders have been illustrating "Days
of the week" pictures. These pic-
tures are about the last week of
