up for spring
After a two month winter break
the• Bruce Shrine Club is again
gearing up for a busy year. Our
first major undertaking is the annual
sale of the vadalia onions from
Georgia. The price 'is still $10.00
for 10 pounds. Contact any of your
Shrine friends to order.
The second major project of the
year is the 11th annual dinner auc-
tion at the Underwood Community
Centre on' June 24. Anyone who has
• attended this event has had a great
time, a great meal, and many have
gone home with real bargains.
This project has raised ap-
proximately $45,000 since it's
inception. This has been made
possible by the very generous
donations from local merchants and
artisans.
the Shrine Hospitals and Burn
Units, along with most local
hospitals, have benefits from the
fund-raising activities of, the Bruce
Shriners. Several local young
people have been funded for treat-
ments at Shrine Hospitals.
The Bruce Trail Riders with their
colorful motor bikes, golf .carts and
trailers will again be attending local
parades. If you wish . to have the
Trail Riders in your parade please
contact the Unit Director at 519-
396-2771.
The Shriners motto says, "No
man stands so tall as when he
stoops to help a crippled or burned
child."

One of my1duties is commercial
marking, which is the marking of "
trees for logging. I measure the
diameters of trees and mark them
with yellow spray paint. I have also
calculated the board feet in these
marked trees.
In addition I have collected
whitepine cones and red and black
cranberries for seed and delivered
them to the' Angus Seed Extraction
Plant (around 30 miles southwest of
Barrie.)
I have done some work on fishery
maps.
I have also, started and finished
entering information about this
year's deer hunt into the computer
(e.g. how many deer the hunter
saw, if he got any, etc).
One day I. got to go to the Fish.

So far my co-op placement is
interesting and educational. I have
learned a lot in the time that I have
been there, such as the different
species of fish and trees.
f really like my co-op placedient
