The Lucknow Atom B team was the first to have their name on
the Ladles Auxiliary to Winter Sports Atom houseleague
tournament trophy. Gerald Murray made the presentation to
assistant captains Jeremy Austin and Matthew Martin (also
MVP), and captain Scott Austin, who accepted on behalf of their

Atom B's win first houseleague tourney
The Lucknow Atom 13" team is
the first to have its narnc put a new
tournament trophy in the village.
The Ladies Auxiliary to Winter
Sports hosted the first Atom
houseleague tournament ,in Luck -
now, on Saturday.
Lucknow played three strong
games with each game more ex-
citing than the previous.
Game 1
The first garne was against
Belgrave,• and after a slow, sleepy
early morning start, the team woke
up and made some excellent plays,
taking a 3 to 2 victory.
Scorers were Jeremy Austin, Scou
Austin and Matt Marlin, with assists
going to both J. Austin and S.
Austin (2), and Martin.
MVP for the game went to Scott
Austin.
Game 2
In game two with Bayfield, Luck -
now was down one gaol at the end
of the second period. Knowing they
had to win the game to continue on,
they came to life and started to
light up the scoreboard.
.With strong offence and excellent
goaltending they managed to win 5
to 3.
Goals were by Marlin (2), Mary
Cox, J. Austin and S. Austin. As-
sists went to J. Austin (3),. Martin
(2) and S. Austin. •
MVP was Jeremy Austin.
Championship game
After a rest the local. team was
ready to take on a strong Hanover
squad for the championship game.
The first period saw the score tied
with two a piece.
In a scoreless second, there was -a
lot of end-to-end action with the
goaltenders making several excel-
lent saves.

Tourney provided exciting hoclwy
On Saturday morning, bright and
early, the ladies' group was back at
the Lucknow arena to run the first
Annual Ladies Auxiliary Atom
Houseleague tournament. This
tourney provided some of the most
exciting and entertaining hockey at
the arena this winter.
In the first game, Lucknow had to
work .hard to squeak out a 3 to 2
win over Belgrave. (for the report
on Lucknow's games, see separate
article in this week's paper)
Bayfield vs Ripley
Game 2 was a close one with
Bayfield winning over Ripley 4 to
3. Bayfield's Ken Courtney was
player of the game.
Listowel vs Dundalk
Game 3 faced- Listowel and Dun-
dalk. Listowel led from• start to
finish to win 5 to 0. Listowel's
John Schiw-ieler was player of the
game.
Hanover vs Embro. •
' Game 4 pitted Hanover against
Embro with Hanover dominating to
win 11 to 4, to decide the con-
tenders. for championship and con-
solation round. Hanover's Shawn
Buckholtz was player of the game.
Ripley vs Belgrave
Mildmay, Durham take home Bantam hardware
The Elaine 'Irwin Memorial Ban-
tam Houseleague tournament got
underway Friday morning, at .the
Lucknow arena with a full day's
action.
Lucknow and Durham opened the
first game at 8:30 a.m. with Luck-
now winning 6 to 3:
George Carter, Colin .Becker,
Matt Lyons and Jay Humphrey
shared in the scoring. Matt Lyons
was picked as player of the game
for his excellent play making.
. ` Game 2
Mildmay and Kincardine faced
off for they second game with
Mildmay winning 8 to 1, Mildmay
showed why they eventually won
the tournament. Adam Dietz was
picked as player of the game.
Game3
Game 3 pitted London against
Paisley with London winning 4 to
1..Player of the game from London
was Brad Wilson.
° Game 4
Mount Brydges skating against
Mount Forest •with the latter win-
ning easily 11 to 3. Mount Forest's
Tim Donald was player of the
game. This game finished the first
round and decided the -champion-
ship and consolation contenders.
• Game 5
Kincardine and Durham metfor
game five, with Durham's 6 to 3
Win eliminating Kincardine from
further play. MVP was Durham's
Joey Bak.
Game6
Lucknow caipe up against a very
tough, fast Mildmay team .in game
six. Mildmay came on strong to
dominate the home town team and
advance to the championship game
by *inning 8 to 0. Mildmay's Tony
Beitz was player of the game.
Game 7
Game seven matched Paisley and
Mount Brydges with Paisley's 5 to
3 win advancing them to the con-
solation final. Rob Buhr was player
of the game.
Game 8
London skated against Mount
Forest to finish the round robin play
with small town. Mount Forest
winning 7 to 1 against big town
London. Mount Forest's Ken Talpa
was picked as MVP. This win gave
them a birth in the championship
game against Mildmay.
Consolation
' Paisley and Durham played off
for. the consolation championship.
Both teams were determined to take
home the silverware. Durham per-
sisted with a 7 to 3 win to claim
the consolation trophy,' with Brad
Watson awarded the player of the
game.
Game 10
• This game proved to be well
worth waiting for as Mount Forest
and Mildmay tangled ,to claim the
- big"trophy.
Mount Forest came out very
determined and took a 2 to 0 lead
in the first period, before
Mildmay's speed took over and
they stormed back with six straight
goals to dominate the end of the
game and claim a 6 to 12..victory.
Mildmay's Trevor Dietz was
chosen player of the gatite and
Mildmay's Kurt Lobsinger as goalie,
of the game to end a very good
tournament.

made by her sons, Ken, Chris and
Craig Irwin.
Game 5 saw Belgrave scramble
by Ripley 3 to 2, with goaltender
Shane Arnold taking player of the
game.
Lucknow vs Bayfield •
Game 6 was one of the best
games in the Lucknow arena this
winter, as Lucknow and Bayfield
battled and the score seesawed back
and forth, with Lucknow racking up
the victory (see Atom B report).
Embro vs Dundalk
Game 7 continued the day.'s ac-
tion with Embro advancing by
winning 6 to 1 over` Dundalk.
Embro's Johnathan Graham was
player of the game.
Hanover vs Listowel
. Game 8 was the final game of the
round robin play and. would decide'
Lucknow's opposition in the big
game of the day. Hanover wOn over
Listowel 8 to • 3 to . advance.
Hanover's Joey -Robinson was.
player of the game.
Belgrave vs Embro
Game 9 saw- Belgrave sweep the
consolation game over Embro 6 to
1, with - hard work and some good
luck plays. Belgrave went home
happy with la trophy, and Kevin
Hopf as MVP.

Mildmay and MOunt Forest played off for the championship
trophy in the Elaine Irwin Memorial Bantam houseleague
tournament last Friday. ft was a close game until midway
through the third when Mildmay found the net four more times
to 'win the game 6 to 2. Chris, Craig and Ken Irwin made the
presentation to captain Tony Beitz, MVP Trevor Dietz and goalie .

Durham.and Paisley came face to face in the consolation round
of the Elaine Irwin Memorial Bantam houseleague tournament
