The Novice "A" team was in
Teeswater on Saturday to compete
in the Teeswater Lions tournament.
After a slow start in the morning,
the boys improved steadily
throughout the day, eventually
taking the consolation trophy.
The first game of the day pitted
the locals against a Chesley team
that combined both size . and some
excellent playmaking. This com-
bination proved too much for Luck -
now as they suffered a 5 - 2 loss.
Bob Raymond notched both goals
for Lucknow with Tyler Hamilton
and Mark Hackett collecting two
assists each.
Mildmay provided the opposition
in the second round of action. After
two periods of play the score was
knotted at one goal each. Mildmay
had given the boys all kinds of
trouble during the season and they
were at it this day as well. Hackett
had given Lucknow a brief lead
with help from Stuart Moffat and
Raymond, but Mildmay had
stormed back to tie exactly one
minute later.
The pep talk between periods
seemed to have the desired affect.
The boys swarmed the Mildmay
zone in the third period to score
three unanswered goals and skate
away. with a 4 - 1 victory and a
berth in the consolation final. Ricky
Andrew pumped in two, helped on
both by Jeff McNee and Jesse Cox.
Hackett collected his second with
assists to Hamilton and Raymond.
The final' matched Lucknow
against Belmore. Lucknow carried
right on from the Mildmay game
with both great offence and
defence. At the end of the second
period the score was 5 0. Belmore
seemed unable to generate any
offence as Billy Johnston; the Luck -
now goalie had faced only three
shots in two periods of play.
The third' period was more of the
same. Lucknow potted another four
goals but with 41 seconds left Bel -
more finally solved the puzzle and
managed to get one by the Luck -
now netminder. With the game well
in hand, the Lucknow boys relaxed
too early and , gave up another
before the buzzer went. -The 9 - 2
final score alsured Lucknow they
would take a trophy home from this
tournament for the fourth year in
succession.
Scorers in the final game were
Raymond with 4, McNee with 2,
and one each for Moffat, Hamilton
and Hackett. Andrew, Moffat and
Raymond collected two assists .each
while singles went to Hamilton,
Nigel' Black, Brad Gilchrist, Tim
Eadie, , Matthew Pritchard and
Adam Martin. Team Captain Tim
Eadie accepted the trophy and pen-
nant for the team. Congratulations •

robin series
The Lucknow Pee Wee Ice
Demons ended their round robin
play off series with two games this
week.
The first was against Blyth. When
these two teams met earlier in the
play offs, Lucknow came out the
winner but not this time. With a
shorter bench than normal, Luck -
now was only able to score twice.
Once when Mark Meriam and
Richard Walke teamed up and again
on a goal by Andy Evans and Jeff
Havens.
Lucknow vs Kincardine
Their final game was against
Kincardine I. Lucknow came out
strong, scoring' three unanswered
goals in the first period; the first by
Nathan Knorr, assisted by Meriam;
the second by Meriam, assisted by
Taylor Mali and Evans and the
third by Nick Mann unassisted. .
Kincardine scored once in the
second but that was all Clint Gunter
and Justin Brown would allow as
•again 'their strong goaltending
frustrated the opposing team.
• Final score Lucknow 3, Kincar-
dine I'1.
As the season draws to a close,
the team would like to thank the
coaches. Rod Havens, Doug
Aitchison, Bob Gunter and manager
Ted Pritchard for their /time and
effort. During regular season play,
the team had 15 wins compared to
9 losses. Although the team did not
fare as well in the play offs, partial-
ly due to loss of the teams leading
scorer Daryl Aitchison, they

the lateness, of the end of play .and
Mr. Part having to leave early on
the Saturday, they didn't have a
chance to play their game.
Due to the large number of
players and with only 64 boards to
play on they were all divided into
sections. Only the first and second
place player's of each section con-
tinued on to the next -round robin
knockout play on Sunday.
Out of Lucknow's four players
Dean Tiffin, Joel Sutton and Chad
Stanley placed third in senior
singles ' divisions, and Mike
Cranston fifth in junior singles.
Dean and Chad placed third, and
Joel and Mike sixth in senior.
doubles.
The local contingent had a very
enjoyable weekend with one excep
tion. Considering all the parents,
chaperons's, coaches and other
adult . spectators the number of
people volunteering for. score
keeping and co-ordinating sections
was pathetic, causing delays of
about two or more hours. Senior
boys singles was to finish at about
5:00 p.m. it started at 5 p.m. and
did not finish until 'between 7 and
7:30, p.m:
Nine people from Lucknow went
and eadh one was kept busy either
chalking, coordinating or playing;
sometithes doing two things at
once. They were kept so busy they
did not often get a chance to watch
their own boys play. Massena said
she was very disappointed in the
lack of volunteers. Lucknow's own
player's even chalked for other
when they were not playing and
sometimes even marked their own
scores which should not have hap-
pened with the number of people
standing about. • •
Massena says she was very proud
of all the Lucknow people that went
down.
Tim Bain -and Jason Stanley acted
as chaperons, with Pat Everson,
Tami . King and Chris Massena
volunteering their time to accom-
pany
the group.

the second; after Stanley's first
