speak about, at the March. 8
meeting of the St. Helen's
Women's Institute,• .
She told of the many immigrants
who have shaped our country over
the centuries, beginning with the
Asians of Mongoloid stock until he
present day when wd have im-
migrants from many lands.
Helen Todd gave a reading
"March, the Crow Month".
There was a display of old pie-.
tures and books, and also a display
of the many beautiful crafts the
members have been working on this
winter. '
The potluck supper in support of
the Light Fund will be held Mar.
21, 7 p.m. in the institute hall.
Crokinole and cards- will follow.
The next shoot party is Mar. 22,
at 8pm.
The next meeting is Apr. 5 at
noon fora potluck lunch at the hall,
followed by the annual meeting.

South Kinloss WMS will
maintain support of
Sleeping Children project

the Mar. 2 meeting of the South
Kinloss` Women's Missionary
Society.-

opened the meeting with a reading
which was a prayer entitled What a
Beautiful Day. The WMS purpose
was repeated in unison.
A thank you note was received
from Women's House of Bruce for
the toiletries sent to' them. An in-
vitation was received from the
Lucknow WMS to attend their
meeting on, Apr. 6.
The ladies decided to continue the
project of Sleeping .. Children
Around the World for another year.
Shirley Colwell sang a lovely
solo.
Muriel MacKenzie led an interes-
ting Bible study, on. `worry". During
the study she referred 'to many,
verses from the scripture and What
a Friend We Have in Jesus was
sung.
Following the prayer circle, Mrs.
Needham took , the Study Book
during which a discussion period on
"What does the Christian faith have
to say about this?"
Rena .Forster read two poems -,
There's Peace and Calm in. the 23rd
Psalm and Our Lives.
The meeting closed with prayer
and a social time.

tivities meeting of the Whitechurch
Women's Institute was' held. on
Mar. 9, at the home of Jean Tiffin,
Wingham, with Evelyn Gibb as
convenor. .
Following, the . usual opening
exercises, president Marjorie Wall,
read: an 'article on "Why I am an
institute member -
He�len Currie gave the report of
the district directors' meeting in,
Teesw,ater.
Eveyn.Gibb's motto. "knowledge
is . what you learn ' from other?
wisdom is what you learn yourself"
was very interesting. She followed
with readings titled We've Come
Along Way, Grandmothers of
Today, and' I'm Fine Thank -you.
The topic was a. video on life in
Bruce Township 'and agriculture in
Bruce. .. .
Mrs. Currie will assist. Mae
Johnston on the .nominating ;com-
mittee. The annual meeting is set
for Apr. .13' at 12 noon with a pot„
luck lunch. Helen Currie, Jean Ross'
'and Jean Tiffin will act as hostes-
ses, with Norma Rintoul, Mrs.
Tiffin and Catherine. Wilson on the
refreshment committee.
The group has planned a dessert
euchre party for Apr. 25.
Kinlough folks .travel to
Kitchener Ice .Capades
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burt of Kincar-
dine visited on Tuesday with Bessie
Maulden. .
Brett Allyson and 'Robyn
Thompson of Kincardine Township
visited with their grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Don Bushell. •
Some from this area. went' on a
bus trip to the Ice Capades at
Kitchener on Saturday. •
We extend sympathy to Mr. and.
Mrs. Bert (Eva) Nicholson, former-
ly of here and now of Kincardine,
in the death of her sisterrMillie
Campbell, 83, on Thursday at the
Kincardine and District Hospital.
The remains rested at the Davey-
Linklater Funeral Home at Kincar-
dine where the funeral was held on
Saturday. -
On Sun. ' Nina McDonald, Wip-
pifred Percy, Mrytle Percy, and
Bessie Maulden visited with Mrs.
Don Robertson at Wingham and
District Hospital and then the ladies
went on to Belgrave to help Mrs.
Walter .Scott celebrate her 85th
birthday. They returned to Kinloss
and attended the hot, supper,

on Thursday afternoon at the home
of Edna and May Boyle with a
good attendance.

events of the Lenten season. and,
Easter Revival and concluded with
the poem One Solitary Life,
An Easter contest was conducted
by Edna Boyle. .
Agnes Hodgins gave the message
of Easter.

today and Kay Thacker's .closing
reading was God bless you at
Easter. '
Mary' Haldenby , gave the cour-
tesies and a social time follovyed.
The April meeting will be a pot
luck dinner at the home of Maureen
Collins on Apr. 14.
Lucknow Novice B team
advances to divisionals"
The Howick Novice "B" team
visited Lucknow on Mar. 10 and
took home a 5 - 0 victory, but the
tables were turned on Mar. 12 when
Howick returned` for a do or die
game.
Lucknow started the scoring in
the first two minutes of the game
with a goal from Jesse Johnston
assisted by Luke Van Osch and
Blair Morrison. In the third period,
Morrison scored on assists from

Dustin Farrish played an outstan-
ding game in net earning the 2 - 0
shutout.
Lucknow now advances to the
divisional championship playoffs.
