Funerals held for two local women
Madeline Buchanan
1902 - 1994
Madeline Isobel Maud Buchanan,
of Kirkland Lake and formerly of
Lucknow and Teeswater, died in
Kirkland Lake and District Hospital,
Kirkland Lake, Ont., on Wednes-
day, Jan. 26, 1994. She was 91
years old.
She was retired from her position
as a legal secretary. She was a
member of the United Church.
Mrs. Buchanan was born in Des-
boro, Ont., on June 24, 1902, to
Archibald and Ellen (Campbell)
Taylor, both of whom predeceased
her.
' She married Robert Donald
Buchanan, who also predeceased
her.
She is survived by one son, Mal-
colm, and his wife, Mildred, of
Winnipeg; and two daughters: Shir-
ley and her husband,' Ivan Clark, of
Goderich, and Alice and her hus-
band, Delbert Condie, of Larder
Lake, Ont.
Also surviving, are five
grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren. She was predeceased
1•- by twin sons in infancy and . one
brother,. Robert Taylor.
Funeral service was held at
McCallum and Palla Funeral Home

Jacqueline Marie -Louise Schaus,
Wheeler St., Lucknow, died at
Wingham and District Hospital on
Tuesday, February 8, 1994.. She
was 44. •
She was born February 6, 1950 at
Cochrane, Ontario, the daughicr of
the late Adelard Lamothe and Aline
Lamothe, Kitchener. •
She was secretary of .Ripley
Legion Branch 440, and will he
greatly, missed by all who knew
her.
She was the wife of Nicholaus
Schaus,- Lucknow; who survives:
Also surviving besides her husband
and her -mother are threc''children,
Nicholaus Jr., • Kitchener, and
Tammy -Lynn and Jeffrey Schaus,
both of Lucknow; her grandmother,
Marie -Louise Doucette, Cochrane;
three brothers,-.Rheal Lamothe,
Gilles Lamothe and Luc Lamothe, .
all of Kitchener, and one sister,
Vivianne Matthen, Waterloo. She
was predeceased by her father.and
an infant brother.
Funeral service was . conducted
from St. Mary's Roman Catholic'
Church, Lucknow, on Friday,
February 11.at 11 a.m. with Father
Joseph Nevett, Wingham,
officiating, assisted by Doug
Stevers. Lori McDonald delivered
the eulogy. Organist was Marilyn
Carruthers.
Pallbearers were Luc, Rheal and
Gilles Lamothe, Donald Gibson, Al
Schaus Jr., Frank Rumig, Brian
Schaus and Romeo Rock.

MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Hanle, Lucknow, on Thursday,
February 10. Family prayers were
also heard that same evening.'

Ripley Cemetery,
Wingham Hospital Auxiliary meet
Occupational therapy explained
The Auxiliary to Wingham and
District Hospital held its January
meeting with Kim Douglas, oc-
cupational therapist, as guest
speaker.
A McMaster graduate Ms.
Douglas explained some of the job's
her position involves. Patients are
referred by their doctor and adult
patients are. . •often , already in
hospital. Strokes which often'leave
patients with memory or physical
problems are referred ' to Ms..
Douglas who would work with
them to reach a level at which they
are able to function of home again.
Children with gross motor problems
are often referred from different
counties .where local hospitals do
not have an Occupational Therapy'
Department.

Nine Christmas babies went home
in Christmas stockings made by the
auxiliary, A motion was made to
purchase more material for next
Christmas. A white shawl was

presented to the New Years baby
by 'president .Marlene Leedham.

Lucknow were the proud parents 'of
a baby girl. There was also a show
of hands to renew the large print of
the Readers Digest for the book
cart.
The next meeting will be the'
annual meeting to be held on. Apr.
I8. It will be held in the board
room at 1:30. The Spring Con-
ference will be in Fergus on Apr.
25. All members are encouraged to
attend. •

People with mental health difficulties
wanted for. survey
• We are settin):; up confidential survey interviews for
consumer'survivors (people who have an ongoing men-
tal illness) and live in Grey or Bruce Counties.
We want to find out•what kind of housing needs you
have and what support services you would find helpful
to live in the, community. This study is being done by the
Housing! and Social Support Fask Force and will present
its findings to the Mental Health Advisory Committee of
the 'Grey Bruce District Health Council.
Our interviewer can come and interview you at a time
and a place that is convenient for you. The survey wi11
take between 45 minutes and one hour. Everyone who
•completes the survey will 'he given S5.00 as our wuv int
