A good time was had by all, • especially those who won: Joe Courtney, John Harris, Evelyn Errington, Evelyn Errington and Jim Errington. .The monthly old tyme dance was cancelled due to illness and weather. Perhaps the March winds will not be as brisk or the snow banks as high. We all are looking forward to the Valentine pot luck supper being held on Feb. 16, 6:30 p.m. with regular cards to follow at 8 p.m. Wes Bearer, Cambridge renewed acquaintance on Thursday with an old school buddy Elmer Trommer. Sympathy is extended to Betty Turner on the death of her sister Marian Clark in London, on 'Feb. 2. Interment was in' Mount Pleasant _Cemetery. The Dungannon Agriculture Hall was the setting for a special euchre tournament on Feb. 5, with 22 tables in action. There was a three-way split for second and third prize. Clarence Hoy aid Harold Johnstone,.Larry Fisher and Frank Baer, Lois and Raymond Haggitt. Rather than a playoff, the two preferred sharing the wealth, each with a score of 78. The winning team of Allan Dickson and Jim Errington, with a score of 81, was in -first place. - Marie- Millian and .. Ross Errington of St. Helen's, a former Brookside school teacher, is now officially retired, celebrating the great 65 on Jan. 28. He was an. honored guest at several gatherings by family and friends. A family brunch was held at the Mayfair Restaurant, honoring the golden wedding anniversary of Margaret and Allan Cranston on Jan. 28 with their daughters, Nancy, Pat and Corinne, husbands Wayne Grigg, Gordon Hunt and Tom Ir- win, grandchildren Karen and Bren- da Grigg, Kitchener, Jim, Greg and Angela Hunt, St. Helen's, Candice and Peter Irwin, Belgrave. Joanne Whitney (nee Thompson) and Murray Morision of Courtright were honored at a social gathering at the Dungannon' Senior Citizen Centre on Feb. 5, by the Thompson families. , Fifty guest, friends and relatives from Kincardine, Wingham, Tees - water, Toronto, Lucknow and area, including a German exchange student Antze who is spending the school term with Corabelle and Arthur Danahy, were in attendance. A March wedding in Sarnia will take place for Joanne and Murray. Our congratulations. Micheline Montreuil chose the text "a call to Follow Jesus" on Jan. 30. On .Feb. 6, Sharon Wurm,, Lay Minister from Exeter, chose the "Call to Wholeness" as the sermon topic. Next Sunday, Feb. 13,.'a pot luck luncheonwill be served, in con- junction with Dungannon's annual meeting. A union communion ser- vice will be held at the Dungannon church at 8 p.m. for all four chur- ches in the Pastoral Union charge. The Colborne Snowmobile Club held its Poker Rally on a beautiful Feb. 5. One hundred and twenty- five snowmobilers purchased 160 poker hands at $10.00 a hand and a chance' to win in a draw one of the 100 prizes donated by various businesses. The $100 first prize winner was Robert Popps, Blyth; $75 second prize was won by Kim Burgsma of R.R.5, Goderich; and $50 third prize was a three way tie between Brian Argyle, Kathy Jenkins and Mike Petri who split the money between them. This is the first attempt for the Colborne Snowmobile Club to hold a poker rally and it was a very successful venture. Fifty per cent of the proceeds will go to Crohn's and Colitis > Foundation and the Children's Aid Society of Huron County. 11 February is Heart and Stroke Month. Joe and Teresa Courtney received word that her uncle Cyril Austin suffered a slight stroke and was admitted to hospital in Florida last Thursday. Tests show he has a blocked vein in the neck. Eldon Culbert, Elmer Trommer and little nine month old Cassandra Rivett, daughter of 'Duane and Nancy Rivett, all patients at the Alexandra Marine. and General Hospital, (iodench were released in better health. Sandra Rivett of Little Current and her son Allan and Rebecca Rivett and family of Port Hope visited on the weekend with Scott and Lisa Rivett and family. A family dinner was held on Sunday, Feb.6 for all the Rivett families. Harold and Helen Jewell' also at- tended. Sandra, Allan and family returned to their homes on Monday. Sunday afternoon Feb. 6 was perfect for the yearly celebrations of "Family Fun Days" sponsored by the St. Helen's Snowmobile Club. A good turn out met at the club house' for a short business meeting followed by games and snow- mobiling along the trails, then back to the club house for a barbecue and desserts. Little two-year-old Brett Courtney of Blyth spent the weekend with his grandparents, Joe and Teresa Courtney. His parents Gary and Chris Courtney and family joined them on Sunday for birthday and anniversary dinner celebrations. Ryan Rivett, son of Scott and' Lisa Rivett and members of his Lucknow .
