winning abilities
The Lucknow Novice A team
travelled to Ripley last Tuesday and
played a very fast and highly enter-
taining game for all the fans, and
brought home an 8 to 4 victory. as
well.
Lucknow kicked into gear early in
the first and kept up a fast pace
displaying strong skating and pas-
sing abilities. '
Adam Martin lit .up' the
scoreboard first with a wide shot
from the corner and a little help
from a Ripley defenceman. '
Nigel Black followed upon a
rebound set up by Jeff McNee and
Tim Eadie.
Ripley replied with one in the
first and the second earlyn period
two to tie the game. -
Midway through the period, Black
and Ricky Andrew set up a perfect
play to enable McNee to score the
go ahead goal.
Ripley picked up the pace and
roared right back to tie the game at
three all.
In the third period, Lucknow
pulled out all the stops, skating and
passing and scoring five goals in 15
minutes. Martin made good on a
rebound by Tyler Hamilton. • Bob
Raymond stormed back on a
Demons. down Kincardine
breakaway to put away the fifth
goal. Andrew set up McNee in
front; Hamilton made good on a set
'up by Mark Hackett and Raymond
and finally Andrew assisted by
Eadie.
Lucknow looked really sharp and
worked hard for the 8 to 4 win.
Normanby vs Lucknow
On Feb. 5, Normanby came to
challenge the highly offensive
Lucknow squad. This game proved
to many, the talents of both teams,
as they skated to a two all tie.
The constant digging of Mark
Hackett, Tyler Hamilton and Bob
Raymond paid off when Hackett
netted the first marker.
Normanby replied in the first with
a rebound past. the Lucknow goal -
tender.
Lucknow took the lead in period
two on a nice play by Nigel Black
and Jeff McNee to Ricky Andrew,
who tucked it in the back of the
net.
Lucknow held a one goal lead
until the 2:37 mark in- the third,
when Normanby made good use of
a breakaway.
Both teams displayed superb
defence.
Last Thursday, the 'Lucknow Pee After a • scoreless second,
Wee B team played at home against "Aitchison padded the lead. Once
Kincardine L This was the second with a power -play" goal, assisted by
time ' these two teams met with Walke and again when he picked
Kincardine winning the first game up his own rebound, assisted by
by a score of 11 to 2. Chris Tabor and Walke.
Richard Walke opened the scoring Kincardine scored once more but
when he wound -up -and blasted a the tough defensive play of Mike
slap shot from jut inside the blue Wyndham, Taylor Mali, Troy
line, assisted by Daryl Aitchison McKenzie and ".Jeff Cranston
and Jeff Cranston. Kincardine tied, frustrated the Kincardine team,
but with one second remaining in
the first, Walke scored unassisted
on a short-handed effort to regain
causing them t� take many unneces-
sary penalties.

Those Novice B's had a busy week
A `strong Novice B team played in
Belgrave on Jan. 31 and brought
home a 5 - 0 victory. Dustin Farrish
earned the shut -out. ,
David Cameron started things
rolling early when at the 28 second
mark he blasted in his first goal,
and during the same shift tallied his
second, assisted by Ryan Rivett.
Derek Quinlan scored unassisted
early in the second, with Jesse
Johnston . following suit with help
from Luke Van Osch.
Quinlan finished the scoring with
an unassisted marker late in the
third.
Wingham vs Lucknow
The Feb. 3 game between visiting
Wingham and Lucknow' was a see-
sawbattle until the third period
when Luke Van Osch, assisted by
Graham Cook and J. Johnston,
dented the twine.
A play by Kevin DeBruyn and
Ryan Rivett gave Michael Fischer
the opportunity to flip one by the •
Wingham goaltender.
Wingham came back with a goal
•
late in the third but it was too late
to take the .2 to 1 victory from
Lucknow.
Howick Tournament
The Novice team faced ' off
against Minto Township on Friday
night for their first game of
Howick tournament: It was a close
game, with Minto taking the 3 to 2
victory.
Lesley Morrison opened the
scoring with a perfect goal, assisted
by DeBruyn and Ryan Rivett.
The first period ended with both
teams showing one on the
scoreboard.
J. Johnston, on a power play, and
assisted by Van Osch and Quinlan
put Lucknow up by one in the
second, only to have Minto tie the
game again.
• Minto went on to tally one more
in the third to, take the 3 to 2 win.
Meeting Listowel on Saturday, the
Lucknow squad came up with a big
7 to 1 victory.
Goals were scored by Johnston,
Cameron (2), L. Morrison (2),
Quinlan, L. Van Osch, with assists
.going to G. Cook, D. Conley, Quin-
lan (2), B. Morrison (2), D.
Cameron, D. Farrish, and D. Mac-
Donald.
Later that day, Lucknow faced off
with the Walkerton A's.
Lucknow was down 4 to 0, when
Josh Ackert slipped one in assisted
by Quinlan and Preston Drennan,
followed by another quick one off
the stick of Quinlan with help from
Cameron and Conley.
Walkerton came back with three
.fast goals. -
Van Osch and Conleytallied two
more for Lucknow, with assists
going to MacDonald and Brian
Goetz.
Goalie Dustin Farrish held
Walkerton off during the third
period and Graham Cook blasted
one in with assists going to B.
Morrison and Derek Hoggart, for a
final tally of 6 to 5 for Walkerton.
Atom B's take two ties and a loss
On - Jan. 25, the Walkerton
Mavericks came to town to play
Lucknow Atom B's.
The first period. saw Walkerton'
get three goals with Scott Austin
getting the only goal for Lucknow.
The second period Lucknow put
more pressure on the visiting team.
Dan McDonagh passed the puck to
Jordan Schell who managed to get
it past the Walkerton goalie. Then
Matthew Martin put on in the net
on a pass from Jeremy Austin, to
tie the game. Walkerton fought hard
•and pulled ahead with one goal.
The third period saw more, end-to-
end play. On a nice set up by Scott
and Jeremy Austin, Jordan Schell
popped one in the net. J. Austin
then passed to Martin who scorea
the go-ahead goal.
Walkerton turned on the pressure
to score in the last minute to tie the
game 5 - 5.
Ripley vs Lucknow
On Feb. 4 Ripley came to town to
meet the Atom B team. Ripley
scored the lone goal of the first
with Lucknow scoring a single in
the second.
The third period saw end-to-end
battle with each team scoring one a
piece.
Lucknow's goals were scored by
Scott Austin with assists going .to
Kiel Farrish, Jeremy Austin and
Jordan Schell.
Final score 2 - 2.
Walkerton vs Lucknow
On Feb. 5 the Atom B's . hosted
Walkerton Cuneo's.
In the first Walkerton put two
away. ,
In the second Lucknow scored
early witha goal by Andrew Pick-
ard, assisted by Kiel Farrish and
Blue Wiens. .
Shortly after, Matt Martin scored
assisted by Andrew Pickard and
Jordan. Schell. In the last few
seconds Walkerton scored. Luck -
now came out strong and put one
more in by Scott Austin assisted by
his brother Jeremy and Matt Martin.
• A few seconds later Walkerton
scored to win 4 - 3,
