Gary Ballagh is guest speaker at annual meeting
The Dungannon Agriculture
Society's annual meeting was held
en Tuesday evening, Jan. 25. A
social - half hour -precluded a pot
luck supper enjoyed by directors,
members and friends. .
Duane Rivett, president, wel-
comed the guests with Margaret
Errington proclaiming the blessing.
Guest speaker was Gary Ballagh,
who gave a humorous message on
dealing with stress. .
Denise Mack, 1993 Fair Ambas-
sador, spoke of the privilege it was
to represent the Agriculture Society:
Lights were lowered for the enter-
tainment performed by the Junior
.Agriculture Society. The quartette
comprised of Kelly McNee, Angela
Brindley, • Jennifer Upthegrove and
Amy Glenn, presenting action and
mime, on "Living in the Fridge."
Delmar Sproul inducted the fol -
.lowing directors: three year term;
Karen Matheson, Marjorie Pentland",.
Danny Gregory, Bernard Boyle and
Bernice Glenn; two year term: Jim
Errington, . Duane Rivett, Jack
Caeand Angela Glenn;' one year
term: Bob Wright, Joanne Up-
thegrove, Rick Upthegrove, Cecil
• Cranston and Steve Pico. Joanne
Upthegrove will perform the
secretary - treasurer duties.
At the directors'. meeting that
followed Duane Rivett consented to
remain aS president.
The -moon was full, the 'night was
frosty, but the faithful Dungannon'
Seniors turned out for the weekly
card party. • In the winning circle
were Fred Crawford, Nels Pearsdn,
Lois Cunninggham and Margaret
Young. Luck was with Har*d
Johnstone when his score card was

It was the secretary's pleasure to
present an "over 80" honorary
membership to Arthur Stewart, 6f
the Glenn Haven, Lucknow
apartments. Actually Arthur is a
1906 model, but not certain of the
date. He begins birthday
celebrations Jan. 28 - 31. A family
gathering was held as well as
musical entertainment in the Com-
mon Room.
A great nephew Bradley Hodges,
celebrates his birthday .on Jan. 28.
Grandpa Ken and Grandma Beth
Hodges were supper guests.
Our • sympathy thoughtsand
prayers are with Linda -and Donald
Curran, in the sudden passing of
her brother Tim Glousher in his
37th year. Funeral Services were
held on ' Saturday, Jan. 29 from
McCallum and Palla Funeral Home
Goderich. '
While passing through Dungannon
on Thursday, Jan. 27, did you
notice the Neon Sign, with the
lettering -HONK- a half. Century?
The theme song for the week had
to be "Let it snow,.Let it snow, Let,
it snow' and it did, accompanied by..
a wind that blew clean through one.
I think folks did their visiting by
phone for when Edna and I went to
do our Kinlough column, we could
think of only one item. Glad that
those who enjoy the skiing and
sn* wmobiling are out enjoying the
crisp' winter air.

after a nice visit at Fonthill with her:

Agnes Hodgins .underwent; eye
surgery during, the week. She had a
'cataract removed. Glad it's over
Agnes.
We extend • sympathy to Mrs.
Mabel McKay of Kincardine in the
death of her, husband Alex after a
very lengthy illness. Mrs. McKay
was the former Mabel Ross and
grew up on Con! 10.
Relatives from here visited at the
Davey - Linklater Funeral Home in-
Kincardine
t-Kincardine where the remains
rested. Alex was a cousin of .,the
Percy families here.

detergent to clean the steam holes.

DUNGANNON
Well that was because Dave Daw-
son celebrated a very important
milestone - his 50th. Dawson's
Store was an array of colored bal-
loons soaring to and, fro from the
ceiling. Best wishes Dave for the
next 50,
Jim and Margaret Errington were
weekend visitors with daughter
Sandra and Ken Davidson,
Komoka, Laura and Matthew.
Congratulations to Darlene, and
Rick Patterson, of Dungannon, and
to Don Frayne, of Kingsbridge, who
were recent winners of $40.00 each
in the Belgrave Kinsmen cash
calendar daily draw.
Congratulations to Barry Austin
of Nile, a winner of the 3M/
Goderich Signal Star Coach Recog-
nition Program. Barry coaches the
Mite boys and girls/ Colborne
'baseball team, Novice and Atom
hockey and.T-ball.
Congratulatidns to Ron Austin,
son of Wilfred and Marion Austin,
who received honorable mention.
Ron has coached the rookie ball
team for the past five years, twice
winning the Ontario Championship.
Ron's name will be re-entered into
the summer edition of the 3
M/Signal Star Coach Recognition
Program.
Ish and Kim Rahaman and family
Ryan, Alicia and two week old
baby Jordan of° Kitchener visited
with her parents Bob and Doreen
McCormick on the weekend.
Doreen's. sister Lula and Carman
Kaye of Palmerston visited on
Saturday,
Sincere sympathy to the family of
Willis McDonald who passed away
on Jan. 28 in his 66th year. Funeral
service was conducted from the
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral
Home, Lucknow on Jan. 31, with
spring interment at Greenhill
Cemetery.
Special thanks to the many
snowplow and sanding operators
who have kept roads open during
the snowy month of January, and to
Duane Rivett who plowed
driveways in the village. We're
happy to say good-bye to January
and welcome to February:
During the month of February,
Brookside Public School student
council will be running a tuna -
raising campaign to raise money for
such activities as field trips and
special events. They will be selling
a variety of Ontario food products
such as honey, Robinson's Maple
Syrup, peanuts, fudge and jam.
.Order forms will be sent home with
the oldest child in each family on
Friday, Feb. 4, due back Feb. 18
with the product delivered to
Brookside School on Friday, March
4. They . hope this fund-raising
campaign will be successful.
Students are preparing public
speeches to be heard at Brookside
School on Feb.15 with winners .

Legion Public Speaking Contest at
8 p.m.
