"I'm very concerned that as we

Labelling is needed, adding that
governments should play a part to
educate consumers to buy Canadian

Guaranteed Investment Certificate
(GIC) can be registered through an
RRSP, and that money can then be
targeted to be lent back to agricul-
tural

moment, though, just 80 Credit
Unions in Ontario offer it. The
NDP government will guarantee the
first 20 per cent of the loan, as well
as offer competitive GIG rates.
"It's a way of putting your own
money back in your community,"
he said.
Stable funding was discussed,
with a successful registration cur-
rently underway. So far, Buchanan
said, 20,000 farms have registered,
with approximately one-thitd,of the
registration forms yet to be returned
before the April deadline.

industry," he said.

admitted during the question
period that the NDP government
looked at closing all agricultural,
colleges to save money.
Buchanan said his department
