This is global warming?
The scientists that talk about
global , warming will have a hard
time convincing people this winter,
as we experience record-breaking
low temperatures.. It certainly is a
real old-fashioned winter this year,
with snow and more snow.
J.J. Houston returned to Honig
.Kong on Jan. 17, after being in the
United States on business and also
Christmas in Halifax with his
daughter Lynne. He visited in Luck -
now between Christmas and New
Year's with his mother, Elsie Hous-
ton, and in Ripley with Wallace and
Kerry Houston and family.
Jim Arnold received word last
Wednesday that his mother has
passed away in Manitoba, in her
10yth near. We extend our sym-
Ilus by Mildred Loree.

Doris MacKinnon gave a reading
"A New Year's Wish." The study
book was introduced. by Cathy
Howald. This year's study is on
Global Economics. Since the world
is changing it affects all people,
especially the third world countries.
All the work and money that is sent
to the different parts of the world is.
only to, pay off debt, it will do
nothing to help feed the people.
They must have a chance to learn
how to grow crops for food, to
have a better understanding and a
better education. It is our respon-
sibility as Christians to be aware of
powerful people and governments.
This group can and will make a
difference.
Various hymns interspersed the
meeting. Mr. Campbell and Mr.
Dickie entertained during part of
the program and during the social
time that followed.
