Congratulations to area
grandparents on arrivals
Congratulations to Leona Boyle
and Ken and Anne Williamson, of
Walton, on the arrival of a
granddaughter, Melissa ona, born
to Harry and Cathy Boyle on Dec.
28, 1993.
Congratulations to Bob and
Doreen McCormick on the birth of
a grandson, and to Stella McCor-
mick a great grandson, born Jan.
14, 1994 to Kim and Ish Rahaman
of Kitchener.
Doreen and Bob visited with Kim
and Ish and family on Saturday and
brought grandchildren Ryan and
Alicia home with them for a few
days. The , McCormicks were
thankful to arrive home safely
Saturday evening 'as the blowing
snow worsened at Listowel and got
bad the further north they travelled.
Many children are missing school
because of the chicken pox.
Congratulations to Harvey Culbert
who continues to top the senior
citizen's five pin bowling league. at
'Goderich, and to Harold Maize,
formerly of Dungannon, who placed
third on Jan. -6. -:. ••
• Dungannon Senibl Citizens have
started ,back to making. pies on
Wednesdays at the Centre. Orders
are greatly appreciated.
Around 20 members of Belle
Mole's family celebrated Christmas
with Belle and Frank on Jan. 16.
Families were present from London,
Ailsa Craig, Pickering, Courtright
and surrounding area. All relatives
except one grandson, his wife and
two . children were able "to attend
this happy occasion.
Tanya Hodges, of Kitchener, was
able to be home with her parents
Terry and Penny, on the weekend.
She and other area students were
driven back by het; mother Penny
on Monday.
Rene Arsenault has added a new
30' x 44' ,storage building to the
existing two storey 36' x 32' • buil-
ding on his property. Rene does

woodwork and steel work.
Terry Hodges welcomed the first
cardinal to his bird feeder. He has
many bluejays and several other
varieties flocking for feed these
' cold mornings. They are a welcome
sight from my window.
Christmas was a gala occasion for
Hazel Park and family, when son
Allan, wife Kathy and daughters
Angela and Leanne from Fort
McLeod, Alberta visited. Aunts and
uncles, John and Marina Park, Dick
and Noreen Park, •Ken and Beth
Hodges and many cousins were
visited before their departure on
Jan. 12.
It is 10 years since Allan was
home and an 18 year interval 'for
)"Kathy and girls,who were three and
five years old in 1975. •
On Jan. 12 the Dungannon
Seniors got back into card playing
action. The champs were Jim Er-
rington, Joe Courtney (on high pink
card), John Harris and Aileen
Trcmmer.
"Feeling God's Call" was the
sermon topic of lay minister
Micheline Montreuil at Dungannon
United Church on Jan. 16.
Saturday night's big blow closed
the main highways and mode of
travel was limited to local. Many
events were cancelled. Some vil-
lagers spent the night safely in town
with family and friends.

• Russell G. Struthers
1915 - 1993
Russell Gilchrist Struthers died at
his home in Cambridge, on Dec.
27, 1993, in his 78th year. He was
a veteran of the Second World War,
serving overseas with the airforce.
Mr. Struthers was • born in the
Paramount District, near Lucknow,
to the late James and Annie
(Walker) Struthers.
He is survived by son Terry and
his wife Wendy and three
grandchildren of Mission, B.C. Mr.
Struthers was a first cousin of Mary
Simpson of Whitechurch,' Jean
McLeod and Gordon Struthers of
Lucknow.
Besides his parents, Mr. Struthers
was predeceased by his wife Fran-
ces Terrell in March 1993, and
brothers William and Alvin.
Burial took place in Cambridge
on Dec. 31, 1993. Interment Park
Lawn Cemetery.
Fred Edwards
1940 - 1994
Thomas Frederick (Fred) Edwards
of R.R. 2, Holyrood, an iron
worker, died at University Hospital,
London, on Jan. 13, 1994, in his
54th year. He was a member of the
Kinlough Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Edwards was born on Sept. 3,
1940, in Lambton County.
• He is survived by his wife, the
former Melita Coulter, and two
daughters, Michelle and Jody, both
of London, and a brother Bill Ed-
wards of .Watford.
Mr. Edwards was predeceased by
his parents Clifford and Myrtle
(Wyatt) Edwards.
Visitation was at the MacKenzie .
and McCreath Funeral Home on
Jan. 15. The funeral was conducted
from the .Kinlough Pentecostal
Church on Jana 16 at, 2:30 p.m.
with Rev. R. Donnan officiating.
Organist was Laura Dahmer.
Spring interment.

Vi Arnold
1912 - 1994
Violet Isabel (Vi) Arnold, of
Lucknow, died at the Wingham and
District Hospital, on Jan. 9, '1994,
in her 82nd year.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1912, in.
Goodlands, Manitoba to the late
Jack and Florence (Bawtinhimer)
Hunter.
On Oct. 1, 1930, she married Jim
Arnold, in Deloraine, Manitoba.
For many years She farmed with
her husband in West Wawanosh
Township, Huron County, Subse-
quently, they ran the Lanesville
General Store, Ashfield Township,
before retiring to Lucknow.
Mrs. Arnold was'a member of the
Lucknow United Church, the UCW,
the Lucknow Agricultural Society,
the Lucknow Horticultural Society,
and the Canadian Order of
Foresters.
Mrs. Arnold is survived by her
husband Jim, of Lucknow; and
eight children: Reginald and wife
Oda Mae Arnold of Manitoba;
Evelyn • and husband Herb Corbett
of Calgary,. Alberta; Richard and
wife Maureen of British Columbia;
Walter and wife Lorraine of Luck -
now, Ontario; Donnie and wife
Norma of Manitoba; Karen and
husband Stephen Graham of Cal-
gary,. Alberta; Ann and husband
Wayne Tribe of Edmonton, Alberta;
and Susan and husband Steve Var-
. dy, of Calgary„ Alberta.
She is also survived by brothers
and ' sisters: Lilly Culbertson,
Manitoba; Vern Hunter, Lucknow;
Ella Hackett,.. Lucknow; Allan
Hunter, Trenton; Ilien Lemoine,
Lucknow, and Bill Hunter, Luck-
now; 14 grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren.
Visitation was at the MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral Home, Luck -
now.
The funeral service was con-
ducted Jit the Lucknow , United
Church on Jan. 12, with Rev. Wil-
liam Bresnahan officiating. The
Lucknow United Church Choir was
accompanied by organist Carl Mor-
rison.
Pallbearers were Briar] Arnold,
Douglas Graham, Barry Elphick,
Dale Hunter, Bob Hunter and Lance
Sanderson.

Cemetery, Lucknow.
Sympathy is extended to Melita
Edwards and family in the passing
of her husband Fred, who died in
University Hospital,. in his 54th
year. The funeral was held at the
Pentecostal Church on Sunday
afternoon.
We extended sympathy to Agnes
Hodgins on the loss of her brother
Ben McCue of Kincardine.

on Jan.' 13 at the home of May and
Edna Boyle, with Maureen Collins
presiding.
The theme pertained to what the
New Year holds in store for, us.
Scripture reading was from Psalm
139, followed by prayer.

Eleven members of the Lucknow
Women's Institute gathered for their
January meeting. Grace Gibson and
Celia Aitchison served dessert.
Bernice Johnstone opened the
meeting in the usual way and read
a poem.
Rollcall was answered by naming,
a treeand something made from it.
Mabel Whitby and Bemadean
Ritchie reported on the recent rally
held in Paisley.
Mrs. Gibson and Mrs. Aitchison
• gave an article..on Canadian In-
dustries.
Kay McIntosh played songs for
