pleased to announce the birth of
their son, James Robert, born Dec.
15, 1993, at Kincardine 'District
Hospital, weighing 10 lbs.. 6 oz.
James is a wee brother for Ashley,
and a little grandson for Bob and
Carol Blackwell, R.R. 1, Ripley,
and Bill and Annetta Robinson,
Ripley.
Korporal - McClory - John Kor-
poral and Amanda McClory wel-
come with love their son, Chris-
topher. Ryan Martin, born Dec. •23,-
1993 ' at Wingham and District
Hospital, weighing 8 lbs. 6 oz.
' Grandparents are Ken and Pam

McCLory,-Listowel; and Jphn and
Jenny Korporal, B.C.
OBITUARY
Benson Finnigan'
1901- 1993
Benson Finnigan, of Goderich and
formerly of West Wawanosh
Township, died at Alexandra
Marine and 'General .Hospital,
Goderich, on 'Dec. 18, ' 1993. He
was 92 years old.
Mr. Finnigan was retired from
farming. He was a member of the
Dungannon United Church.
He was born Nov. 7, 1901, in
West Wawanosh Township; , to
Richard and Sarah (Plowman).

Mr. Finnigan is survived .by two
sisters:' Olive Culbert and Christina
Finnigan; and four brothers: Herb,
Roy, Kitchener and Gordon. •
-He. was predeceased by his
parents; two sisters, Mary and
• Myrtle, and one brother, John.
The funeral was held at McCal-
lum and Palla Funeral Home on
Dec. 21, 1993, with Dr. Rick Magic
officiating. •
Pallbearers were Keith Finnigan,
George Finnigan, Earl Plowman,
Chester Finnigan, Marinus Bakker
and George Errington.
Interment Dungannon Cemetery.

Christmasers in St. Helen's
On Dec. 21, the last meeting of
Christmasers in St. Helen's was
held.
It was a long day with members
finishing their books, making icing
sugar batter and gingerbread
Christmas trees.
In the afternoon the group prac-
tised a play that thcy performed that
evening at Pinecrest Nursing Home.
To wrap up the finished their
pinatas.

happy season with family
Happy '94 to everybody!. As we
take down the Christmas tree and
pack the decorations away for
another year, may we reflect on
another successful holiday season
It is a time when families gather
together and , enjoy having fellow-
ship with each other.

Mary and Robert Bell from Sarnia
were home to spend Christmas with
her. mother Jennie Porteous.
Stan, Pam, Alex and Sarah Loree
of Brampton were home for a few
days, with his parents Austin and
Mildred Loree. Christmas Eve they
were joined by Bob and Debbie and
family of Listowel; Bill; Kim and
family of Hanover and Bruce, Barb

The annual Garniss and Willits
get-together was held on Tuesday,
Dec. 28• at the home of Bruce and
Barb Willits.
Birthday wishes go out this week
to Iva Carr of Maple Breezes who
was 95 on Jan. 3. Congratulations.
We like to recognize anyone that
has achieved 90 years and ovIr so
if they would give me a call at 528-
3615 their special recognition could
be included in the Sentinel.

Drop in Centre on Dec. 24 were
Margaret Errington and Dave Swan
in high spots, with, Teresa Courtney
and Lloyd Moffat in low„positions.

Pinecrest residents/staff
say th anks r for everything
All residents -and staff at Pinecrest
Manor' Nursing Home would like to
extend their deepest sympathy to
the family of Jean LaRose. She
lived at Pinecrest for 10 years and
had a special spot in everyone's
heart. Jean .will be greatly missed,
by everyone at Pinecrest. I A
memorial will be scheduled at a
later date for her.
The . first part of December,
residents and staff shared their grief
at a memorial service for Wes
Ritchie, who is also . very much
missed. 1
December was a busy month with
Christmas .programs. The schools
visitedand sang carols, and the
Lucknow School Band visited and
entertained with some lively tunes.
Everyone was disappointed when
the Lucknow Christian School had
to be cancelled due to the flu bug
going around the nursing home.
Many other organizations .and
groups visited during the evenings.
The family, and residents'
• Christmas dinner was well attended '
and everyone seemed oto enjoy the
chance to.be together at tfir dine of
year.
The Puddleduck Day Care concert
was enjoyed as well. F'

for the residents' Christmas party.

special service. and other area
ministers . conducted very
meaningful services on the Sun-
days. •.
The residents ended• the season
"viewing a video Orrthebirth and, •
'life' of Jesus.
Dec. 31 was the New Year's
party ,forstaff and residents ,wil.i
special music from local volunteers.
•A big thank you goes out to
everyone who took time to make
Christmas a. happier one at.
Pinecrest, • especially those who
entertained, yisited,brought flowers
and took time to, go shopping .and
supply gifts for 'some of the
residents who otherwise may not
have received anything at •all; and
to the groups who donated' money
for. gifts. These are truly people„

Armstrongs 'visit
over holidays

visited a couple of days last week
with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Perry and family of Bright.
Chalmers Presbyterian Church
held their Christmas concert on
Dec.' 17 at 8:30 p.m. in the church.
The Sunday school children
opened with the Welcome Song and.
lighting the advent candle.
. An opening recitation was given
by Richard Irwin.
Karen Elliott's class presented the
Christmas Stars and Christmas
Candles.
Kathleen Elliott's class presented
two skits - the Lion TaMer, and
Nothing to Do. ,
Chris Harper played a Christmas
medley on his electric piano.
A video called Silent Night was
shown, and Christmas carols were
suing by the congregation, with Jean
Ross as pianist.
Closing recitations were given by
Jamie Campbell and Kyle Elliott.
The children sang Away in a
Manger and Jingle Bells concluded
the program, along with a visit
from Santa.
