Four teens nominated
as 1J93 junior citizens
Four of the 117 nominations for Ontario's. Junior It is a jointly sponsored effort through the Ontario
Citizens for 1993 were from Lucknow and area. Community Newspapers Association and Bell Canada.
The Junior Citizen awards were established in 1981. Being nominated as a Junior Citizen speaks highly
for these young people of our community.
Caley Moore.
Caley Moore is a teen who goes the extra mile in
everything she undertakes, doing so with a cheerful,
optimistic outlook. Her personal goals are high and
she works diligently to achieve these standards.
Caley displays initiative, a sense of responsibility
and concern for the welfare of others.
Any group Caley has been involved with4eaps the
benefits of her. participation.
Fourteen -year-old Caley is the daughter of Elwin
Moore and Claudia•Baskervillle:
Sandra Alton
Those who know Sandra Alton see her as an
outgoing young person, one that is ready to face any
challenge.
• She is eager to help others and has proven to be a
positive influence at school. Sandra is an excellent
role model for younger pupils.
No matter what. Sandra tackles, she does so' with
enthusiasm, thoroughness and precision, but she can
always see the humorous side to things.
Sandra, 14, is the daughter of Don and Sherry..
Alton.
Alesha Moffat
Alesha Moffat, 17, is a young wtiman who has
developed leadership qualities that will stand steadfast
as she goes through life.
'Her outgoing personality, positive thinking and
eagemess to help other�inake her a definite asset to
her community.
As a Peer Mentor at school, Alesha offers en-
couragement to other students who may behaving
scholastic or personal problems.
The daughter of Bill and Donna Moffat, Alesha is
a teen with a lot of potential. .
Lucknow council accepts
sewage operating budget
LUCKNOW - Two represen-
tatives of the, Ministry of Environ-
ment met with council, during a
special ,meeting on Nov. 24 to
discuss and review the proposed
1994/95 sewage operating budget.
Council accepted the proposed
budget, after changes to taxes and
telephone. The budget was set. at
$67,200.
The snow removal contract
(stfiets) , was awarded to Lloyd
Collins. Rates are $56per hour for,
a 41/2 yard loader, and two 15 -yard
trucks at $42 per hour.
The quotes of Doug Maynard and
Reavie Farm Equipment for
snowblowing parking lots • and
sidewalks were accepted at $40 per
hour.
The hours of work and area of
work will be at the call of the town
foreman, Gary Austin.
• Councillor George Gibson was
appointed as the village's represen-
tative on the Bruce Area ,Solid
Waste Recycling Association. .
December 14 meeting
At the regular session of coup►cil
on Dec. " 14; Rick Jones discussed
his request to sell Nevada tickets.
Council deferred any decision on
issuing of new Nevada lottery
licensing until the first quarter of
1994 and .decided that- a policy
statement would be prepared before,
any new licenses are issued. •
Brian Knechtel, of the Lucknow
Village Market, talked about his •
dissatisfaction with the high
demand charge on his hydro bill.
Council agreed .to investigate how
other utilities handle the same
situation.
The new joint bylaw enforcement
officer, Dennis Thompson, met. with
council and discussed procedures
regarding bylaw enforcement.
Councillor Gibson was appointed
to the Planning Advisory Commit-
tee, with Councillor Lillian Abbott
as alternate.

. Recycling budget
Council accepted the Bruce Area
Solid Waste Recycling Association
budget for collection at $30.30 per
hour and administration' fee at $8.24 -
per household for 1994.
A review of the overall budget to
date, as well as proposed road work
for 1994 and 1995, took place.
Council believed, certain aspects of
proposed road work should include
a public meeting.
Kinloss appoints various
councillors to committees
• KINLOSS TOWNSHIP -- Coun-
cil met for its last session of the
year on Dec. 20.
Appointments to,various commit-
tees for . the coming year were
made. Reeve Jim Boyle will be the
member of the Planning Advisory
Committee, with Councillor Cliff
Fielder as alternate.
Councillors. Fielder and, Erlma
Haldenby will. sit on the
Whitechurch Community Hall
Board; Reeve Boyle on the Luck -
now District Medical Centre board;
Councillors Brian Wolfe and John
Husk on the Lucknow District Fire
Committee, and Councillors Hal-
, denby and Husk on the Joint
Recreation Committee.

hired to blow snow at Washington
and George Streets in the.
municipality, at the rate of $45 per
hour.

Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw ,was

Council met in committee -of -the -
whole to discuss personnel matters.
Henry Clark, road superintendent,
presented a five-year forecast for
construction and equipment. Coun-
cil reviewed the plan and will•
report back at the next meeting with
any changes they would like to sec
made,

receive construction engineering
Adam Cameron
Twelve -year-old Adam Cameron is described as an
enthusiastic young person who strives for excellence;
a youth who exemplifies the ideal student/citizen.

tackles from household chores, to school work, to
sports, to music.
Adam demonstrates leadership qualities in all areas

A verbal request was received
from Fishermans Cove to allow a.
temporary line for sewage along the
road allowance. Mr. 'Becker will
prepare the necessary agreement to
be reviewed at. council's next
meeting.
Discussion took place on the.
Donegan Haulage rezoning matter.
Councillor Wolfe and Mr. Becker
reported on a meeting with the
township solicitor. Gord Fletcher
also attended that meeting,' and
along with Ray Buchmeier and Ery
Skrien attended the council meeting
to make comments.
Correspondence from Art Clark,
Maitland Engineering, regarding a
ponddug along a municipal drain,
was read. The landowner will be
informed that he will be responsible
for any costs, if he restricts the
flow of water from any up, or down
stream landowners.
CN has approached council to see
if the municipality is interested in
purchasing about 120 aces 'of old
railway track land. Mr. Becker will
determine the price they are reques-
ting. .
