AGRICULTURE
GOES TO SCHOOL
Huron County public school
teachers will learn about agricul-
ture education at a Professional
Development Day in Exeter on Oc-
tober 24.
The day's workshops have been
organized by an agriculture educa-
tion committee made up of
members from the Huron County
Federation of Agriculture,
Ministry of Agriculture and Food
(OMAF) staff, and the Women's
Institute.
The Huron South Women's In-
stitute has taken a leading part in
the preparation for the Profes-
sional Development Day by mak-
ing four agri-kits of the Fairfield
Family Farm Puppets, which will
be presented to the school system
in Huron. These kits consist of the
puppets, toy farm equipment,
printed material, game cards, and
seed and soil samples. The farm
implement dealers of Huron Coun-
ty contributed the toy farm equip-
ment.
Three workshops will be given.
The first will be a demonstration
of the Fairfield Family Puppets for
junior and primary teachers. The
second will be a demonstration by
OMAF staff of curriculum
resources available for teachers in
all grades of public school. A
number of commodity groups will
be participating in the third
workshop. They will bring printed
material, videos, and other
teaching guides. ❑
