NEWS
11:00 a.m. This herd has been
among the top producing herds in
Perth County. At the Perth Hols-
tein Show September 2, Stonetown
Farms had Grand Champion Cow,
Premier Breeder, and Exhibitor.
At the Western Ontario Champion
Holstein Show in London
September 12, Stonetown placed
first for Breeders Herd.
Two of the herd's foundation
cows came from Huron County.
Mains Lila Citation R, Excellent
and Two Star, was bred by and
purchased from the late Allister
Broadfoot of Seaforth. One of her
granddaughter's went Excellent in
August. Her last three records
average 29,448 pounds of milk and
1,276 pounds of fat.
Rayel Benefactor Star, Excellent
and Three Star, was bred by and
purchased from Allan Wylie and
Sons of Clifford. She was Grand
Champion Cow at the Huron
Holstein Show for Wylie in 1971.
One of her daughters went Ex-
cellent in August at Stonetown.
The Wylie herd will be dispersed
at the Tavistock Dairy Sale Ltd.
October 23, starting at noon. This
herd has been among the top pro-
ducing herds in Huron over the
past several years, always doing
well in type classification and the
show ring. At present the herd
features one five-year-old Ex-
cellent cow, 10 Very Good cows,
and several calves by Hanoverhill
Starbuck. ❑
