Alternate Market Systems Bill Vaags, president of the Canadian Pork Council (CPC) an- nounced at the meeting that a draft report on alternate marketing systems for Ontario hogs will be ready by November 13. The final report will be presented at the semi-annual meeting of the CPC in Ottawa, December 5. The commissioned report, by Dr. Clay Gilson of the University of Manitoba and Dr. Robert St. Louis of Laval University, will not contain any recommendations but will outline the different options available for the marketing of hogs. OAV PORK ADVISOR FOR HURON Andy Sande Andy Sande became the new pork advisor for Huron County last month. Since graduation from the University of Guelph in 1978, Sande, whose major was in crop science, has worked with two large Ontario feed companies as a farm sales representative. He is also a Bruce County pork producer, operating a small swine enterprise near Lucknow. As a pork advisor, Sande will be responsible for the delivery of the Ontario Pork Industry Improve- ment Program (OPIIP) to Huron County pork producers.
