SOVIET SPEAKER
AT OCPA SEMI-ANNUAL
The Semi -Annual Meeting and
Convention of the Ontario Corn
Producers' Association, to be held
at the Waterloo Inn, Waterloo, on
September 3 will feature Eduard
Pogosian from the Soviet Union as
the guest luncheon speaker. Pogo-
sian, President of Stan -Canada
Inc., Toronto, will speak on Soviet
Agriculture and U.S.S.R. -Canada
Trade Relations. In addition, OC -
PA has put together a program of
informed speakers to discuss inter-
national grain trade, Canadian
grain problems and corn
marketing.
The first speaker presentation of
the Convention will begin at 10:00
a.m. The morning program will be
followed by the noon luncheon
and the afternoon business
meeting.
According to Ed Kalita, Presi-
dent of the Ontario Corn Pro-
ducers' Association, the one -day
event should be an informative
program of interest to Ontario
corn farmers.
Registration costs, payable at
the Convention, will be $5.00 per
person which covers participation
in the morning session and the lun-
cheon.

Canadian Wheat Board Minister
Charles Mayer recently announced
that Andy Watson of Pain Court,
Ontario has been named Assistant
Commissioner and will represent
the Canadian Grain Commission
Office in Chatham, Ontario.
Watson received a Bachelor of
Science in Agriculture from the
Ontario Agriculture College in
1959 and is a former member of
the Ontario Legislature. Before
becoming an MPP in 1978, Wat-
son spent 19 years with the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
During that time he was a
representative to Kent County and
Northumberland County. He is a
member of the Agricultural In-
stitute of Ontario and the Ontario
Institute of Agrologists. ❑
