wheat was combined July 20. By
August 15, the clover was two feet
high and was clipped. By match
time, the clover was about eight
inches high and competition took
place on a sod -like field.
For the first time in history
horses were missing from the Perth
Match. Treasurer Ed Doerr, R.R.
5, Stratford, said that "due to the
very high cost of liability in-
surance, the horse classes had to be
dropped."
On Friday, classes for Perth 4-H
were held. Sixteen young people
gave judge Norm Perriman a
tough time due to the close placing
of these lands. The winner of the
John Stephens Trophy was Gor-
don Aitcheson, St. Pauls.
The six 4-H prize winners were:
Gordon Aitcheson, St. Pauls;
Robert Levy, St. Marys; Jeff
Sykes, Mitchell; John Poel, St.
Marys; Don Hamilton, St. Marys;
and Scott Frances, Mitchell.
Queen of the Furrow chairman
Tim Nicholson, R.R. 2, Monkton,
had seven young ladies on hand, to
begin the competition for queen:

On October 14 at the Milverton
Community Centre, following din-
ner at 7 p.m., the contestants will
give their final speeches, and the
new queen will be crowned.
