MATCH

Typcial plowing match weather
in the form of a severe rain storm
arrived at noon on Saturday for
the Perth County Plowing Match
and caused the postponement of
the afternoon classes to the first of
the week.

Gowanstown, told The Rural
Voice, "People who plow, put a
lot of effort into these primary
competitions for The International
Plowing Match, that weather con-
ditions should be at (east average."
The completely soaked judges
Norm Perriman, R.R. 1, Ayr,
Wm. Huffman, from R.R. 1,
Hagersville, were able to judge the
22 lands plowed in the morning.
Huffman, because of other judg-
ing commitments, was not able to
return Monday morning, but
Norm Perriman was back and
completed the judging. Tractors
ranged in size from 30 HP to 250
HP.
Perth County Warden Ron
Denham, from Kirkton, had his
farm in readiness for the match.
The land being used this year, says
Denham, was soybeans in '85,
seeded to fall wheat, with double
cut red clover broadcasted at eight
