The whole tenor of Daily's ad-
dress was that feed dealers, and
other industries that depend on the
livestock business, cannot afford
to stand aside and let others decide

DELOITTE ACQUIRES
KINGSMOUNT SERVICES
Deloitte Haskins and Sells
Associates, a national accounting
firm, has acquired Kingsmount
Financial Services Ltd. of Arva, an
agricultural consulting firm which
negotiates farm insolvencies.
The Kingsmount partners Ron
Phillips, who often speaks at farm
conferences, Frank Schellenbach
and Gord Youlton and the nine
other employees will become
Deloitte Haskins and Sells staff
but will remain in the Kingsmount
offices in an Arva shopping plaza.
Gerry Wheaton, managing part-
ner in Deloitte Haskins and Sells'
London office, says the merger
will likely make the firm the largest
agricultural consulting firm in
southwestern Ontario. Deloitte
Haskins and Sells opened an
agricultural consultancy practice in
London in 1980. It was staff from
that office which conducted the
study of the financial problems
facing Bruce County farmers.
Wheaton says that Deloitte
Haskins and Sells can now provide
two major services for farm
clients. These include the
agricultural appraisal work which
staff were already doing and work-
ing with farm distress situations,
now relying on the expertise that
the Kingsmount staff acquired in
that firm's significant insolvency
practice. Also, by acquiring Kings -
mount, the accounting firm will be
able to offer farm clients a broader
range of accountants, auditing, tax
and appraisal services, notes
Wheaton. He adds that the Kings -
mount staff's expertise in farm
financial settlements may also be
used at Deloitte Haskins and Sells'
offices in Guelph and in Calgary
and Edmonton. About 50 per cent
of the firm's business in London is
now farm-related.CAG
