Perth celebrates
Dairy Heritage
In recognition of Dairy Month,
the Perth Milk Committee will
have displays in 10 supermarkets
throughout the county during the
first two weeks of June. Debbie
Tinholt of Moorefield, Perth
Dairy Princess, will be explaining
the dairy industry to consumers.
Along with Joan Leslie Chase of
Leslie Cheese House in Stratford,
she will be giving out samples of
products made from Perth County
milk.
Wendy Anderson, Perth County
dairy princess co-ordinator, says
this is the first year the milk com-
mittee has tried such a venture for
Dairy Month. The Perth Milk
Committee represents 725 dairy
producers in the county, the most
producers in any one county in On-
tario.
To start the celebration of the
dairy industry, the Leslie Cheese
House will officially open a Dairy
Heritage room in their cheese fac-
tory on Erie Street in Stratford at 8
p.m. June 3. The history of
cheesemaking in the area will be
explained. E PC
