dous past and as 1 look over this
group that I've worked with this
afternoon, I feel very confident in
stating that the Junior Farmers in
Ontario has a great future ahead of
it," he said.
After the speeches, the Junior
Farmers presented a $12,000 che-
que to the Alcohol and Drug
Recovery Association of Ontario.
One of the more unique fundrais-
ing projects was a bed -push from
Brooklyn to London, a distance of
210 miles. The Junior Farmers'
team involved completed the last
leg of the journey the morning of
the conference, pushing their bed
into the Holiday Inn for the che-
que presentation.
Conference delegates also met
their new executive during the
three-day conference. The new
Junior Farmers' president is San-
dra Quehl, a member of the
Waterloo County Junior Farmers
who lives in Guelph where she's a
systems analyst with the Molnar
Systems Group. Raised on a
Wellesley dairy farm, Sandra
achieved advance honours in 4-H
and has long been an active Junior
Farmer member.
The vice-president is Allan Cole
of Renfrew, who operates a small
cow -calf beef operation and works
off -the -farm as an electrician in
Forester's Falls, in the heart of
white water country.
The secretary -treasurer is Nancy
Larmer of Guelph and the zone
directors from southwestern On-
tario are Liann Pitel of Lambton
County, Kim Mullin of Grey
County and Susie Hiltz of Durham
West.
Winners of the four-month ex-
change trip to Australia and New
Zealand were Jan McCutcheon of
Grey County and Valerie Allen of
Prescott County. Rob Essery of
Huron County and Rick Sinclair
of Middlesex County will be going
on an exchange visit to West Ger-
many.
Rosanne Calhoun of Bruce
County will be off to Manitoba
next summer on a provincial ex-
change program. Janice Murray of
Huron County will be visiting In-
diana.
The two Junior Farmer
members selected to attend the
Great Lakes Recreation Workshop
were Linda Axtmann of Huron
County and Christine Dickson of
