2 THE RURAL VOICE
EDITOR'S DESK
A letter from Beula Day from
Stratford congratulated The Rural
Voice on the "variety of topics" in
the magazine. Having a network of
writers throughout the area makes
this possible.
Mary -Lou Weiser -Hamilton,
wh9 farms in Grey County, con-
tributed the article about growing
wheat in Tanzania. The Caldwells,
from Egremont Township, spent
two years there helping to manage
a 10, 000 -acre farm funded by the
Canadian International Develop-
ment Committee.
Cameron MacAuley, from
Bruce County, submits his view-
point on the problems in
agriculture and where he thinks the
solutions begin. His article in-
troduces a new type of feature to
the magazine — Farm Forum. We
will be inviting various members of
the agricultural community to sub-
mit their views as seen from their
perspective. We have been told by
farmers at various trade shows that
they like to read about other peo-
ple's opinions. Farm Forum will
serve that purpose.
Also this issue: Michelle Timko,
a lecturer at Centralia College,
outlines ideas for incentive pro-
grams for farm employees; Phyllis
Coulter, from Perth County,
writes about Neil Nutt who painted
signs for 44 years; Alice Gibb,
from Middlesex County, provides
another agricultural flashback
about one of the "infernal com-
bustion engines" — the Hart Parr
tractor of the early 1900s.
Along with our regular con-
tributors in the magazine, present-
ing a good variety of solid reading
material is what we are trying to
achieve. Thanks for your letter
Beula Day.
