Al Hart, secretary -treasurer of the event, ex- pects 30,000 to attend the festival held on September 28. Organizers were recognized this spring by the Waterloo Region Hotel and Motel Association. The Hospitality Award "for creating a major tourist attraction" in the Waterloo Region has given the organizers even more enthusiasm about the event. The day starts bright and early at 7 a.m. with a pancake and sausage breakfast at the downtown street mall. Visitors will find a farmers' market in the arena. Others will be in- terested in the auction of quilts made by local church groups and clubs. Waterloo County German and Men- nonite foods and sweets will be served at a smorgasbord dinner. Farm tours will include a visit to an Amish farm owned and operated by Allen Kuepfer and sons. The apple butter and cider mill tours are always popular with visitors. The bonus is a free cider sample. Antique Cars and Tractors, craft demonstrations, a model boat regat- ta, outdoor soap -cooking demonstra- tions, a horseshoe pitching demonstration, and skydivers just dropping in are all part of the festival.
