As a youth, the 1962 OAC graduate in animal husbandry was very active as both a 4-H leader and member in Mount Forest. He is an expert at estate planning and can interpret many of the tax changes for both OMAF personnel and farmers with great ease and clarity, Pullen says. Pullen, now a director of the Cana- dian Society of Extension, says the organization is planning for a special event to be held at the University of Guelph in August of 1987. Key members in planning this Agriculture Institute of Canada Convention are Doug Jamieson, principal of Cen- tralia College of Agricultural Technology, and Dick Heard, Rcgional Manager for the Agricultural Representatives Branch, OMAF. The theme of the convention has just recently been chosen: "Water — Our Global Challenge."0 Agri -business supports the Royal Ciba-Geigy Canada Ltd. will make up to $23,000 in prizes available to the Market Cattle Division of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair this year, the largest awards package in this type of competition in Canada. In announcing the award sponsor- ship, Andy Stewart, the fair's general manager, said it is this type of back- ing by a Canadian agri-business that keeps the Royal's Market Cattle Show the biggest and best in Canada. Ciba-Geigy Canada Ltd. also put up prizes for the square-dancing com- petition, the Field Crops Division, and the Horse Show Welcome Stakes in 1984. The company plans to con- tinue its sponsorship in these areas but the major thrust of its involve- ment at the 1985 Royal remains with the Market Cattle Division. "Spon- sorship of the Market Cattle Division at the Royal fits in very naturally with our company's emphasis on better cattle productivity," says Dave Bushell, marketing manager with Ciba-Geigy Canada Ltd. "The Royal is the perfect place to express our commitment to the Canadian cattle industry." Ciba-Geigy Canada Ltd. is the manufacturer of Bovaid insecticide ear tags. Bovaid is a fly control method which has proven itself to many beef producers, cow/calf operators, and dairymen in the field and in the laboratory.0 Custom-designed, top-quality farm and commercial buildings - built to last with reinforced concrete walls and steel siding in your choice of colour.
