It is my most favorite time of the year. I enjoy being with family and friends and caroling in the frosty air. Best of all, I like the hustle and bustle. I love to go Christmas shopping to see the sights and look in store windows. When we get home we get out the tree and decorate the whole house:' We sing carols and trim the tree. Last but definitely not least, Mom, puts the star on. 1 have my own decoration from when I was born. One Christmas my aunt made me an ornament to put on the tree. (I always get to put on those two). Once the tree is up, we wrap the gifts and stuff them underneath the branches. Everybody starts shaking and squeezing their presents. Then we try and guess what is in them. M -m -m -m! What's that delicious smell coming from the kitchen? Baking Christmas goodies is fun and yummy. We help Mom dip the chocolates, roll the cookie dough and sample some cake. Then when visitors come over they'll get to do some taste -tasting too. When we go to visit relatives we can take some goodies to them. Visiting relatives is always fun, and we enjoy seeing them. We hate to leave but it's getting late. Why not go light watching before we go home? I look forward to seeingthe lights. As we pass each house you can see all the different scenes, while we listen to the Christmas songs on the radio. When we return, we turn on the T.V. to a good family Christmas special. Dad grabs a can of nuts. While we're munching away Mom turns on the tree lights. It's Christmas Eve and we better set out a snack for Santa and his reindeer, but we can't forget the real meaning of Christmas. We get out the Nativity Scene and put it under the tree for all to see. Now it's getting late and time for bed, but first Mom reads us "The Night Before Christmas." After the story we all get into bed and try to go to sleep. When I wake up it's Christmas morning. We all rush down stairs and what we see is amazing! Once we're all down stairs we start opening the presents and , looking in bulging stockings. It's exciting for everybody. Our family has a wonderful Christmas and I hope your Christmas will be filled with joy too! It's a fun and exciting time Christmas at My House... by Lorraine deBoer, Gr. 5/6, LCPS Christmas with my family is a great time. We do a lot of things together. I really like Christmas with my family because it is very fun and exciting. We usually• make gingerbread houses each year. Gingerbread houses are fun to make but they are very tricky! Usually when you get two sides up, then the first one will fall down. But I al- ways have lots of fun making gingerbread houses with my family. Another thing we usually make at Christmas time is wreaths, we don't do this together, but my Mom and I usually make wreaths together.
