Page 16 - Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, December 22, 1993 Dungannon folks enjoy many Christmas concerts Two special consignment auction sales were held this past week at Brindley Sales Yards in Dungan- non. Many Christmas concerts were held this last week of school. Dec. 13 senior citizens, grandparents, parents with pre-schoolers were invited to the Blyth Public School concert where students performed "Christmas Around the World". The school was packed for the final . performance on Wednesday evening. Brookside Public School also held their dress rehearsal on Monday afternoon, Dec. 13th with their concert on Tuesday evening. The Christmas concert at Kingsbridge was held on Thursday evening, Dec. 16 with junior kindergarten to Grade 8 students taking part in dances, songs and plays. John Maize, R.R. #1, Dungannon was the winner of the lucky draw. Teachers and students of all the schools are to be congratulated on such fine entertainment. Bob and Doreen McCormick had a special fun filled evening of Christmas entertainment at their home on Dec. 16 for family, friends and neighbors. Congratulations to Louise Martin of Kinsgbridge who was re-elected chairperson of the Huron. Perth Roman Catholic Separate School Board for a , second year. She represents the townships of Ash- field, West and East Wawanosh, Colborne, Hunett and the town of Clinton. Benson Shackleton, R.R.#1, Dun- gannon was admitted to the Grey and Bruce Regional Health Centre, Owen Sound on Dec. 12. He had a two hour knee surgery on Tuesday. We send out to you, Benson, our, best wishes for a speedy recovery. In spite of having no snow, the Wayne and Debbie Bauer family and friends carried on a long time tradition of Christmas caroling through and around Dungannon's streets on Sunday afternoon. Loaded on a rubber -tired wagon, pulled by horses, they visited many homes singing Christmas carols to the delight of all who heard. Driver and owner was Gary Kerr. As this is our last column for 1993 we wish to thank all of you who have helped by supplying news for this column since we started in July. The Dungannon Agricultural Hall was a stir of activity on Saturday when 23 tables of enthusiastic card players gathered for a euchre tour- nament. Judy Sproul and Carol Nivins were awarded the top prize. A play-offfor second and third place between Ann Berry and her partner Loretta Doherty and Neil 'DUNGANNON Maxwell and partner Ray Hartin resulted in Neil and Ray as second prize winners and Ann and Loretta third. Carmen Brindley was the recipient of the special prize. The next tournament falls on Saturday, Jan. 22. The fourth Satur- day of the month is the schedule for this season. Sympathy is extended to the Finnigan family, in the passing of Benson Finnigan who celebrated his 92 birthday Nov. 7. He was born in West Wawanosh Township in 1901 to the former Richard and Sarah (Ploughman) Finnigan. He is survived by four brothers Roy, Herb, Kitchener and Gordon, also two sisters Christina Finnigan and Olive Culbert. Predeceased by brother John and sisters Myrtle and Mary. Rev. Rick Magie conducted the funeral service on Dec. 21, from McCallum and Palla Funeral Horne in Goderich with interment in Dun- gannon Cemetery. The Thompson family enjoyed a pre -Christmas get-to-gether at the home of Angela Glenn and Elwyn Brindley.
