Sifto Sait employee honored for 25 years service
Raymond Hagg,,}t►, a 25 -Year
employee of Sift Salt, Q,pderich,
was among those:,honored' at the
Christmas banquet. Heand his wife
trots ,,were chauffeured in a
limousine to the Knights of Colum-
bus Centre on Saturday evening.
Congratulations to Allan Gibson,
Ashfield Township Reeve who was
elected Huron County Warden at a
special meeting of County Council
on Dec, 7.
Sincere sympathy to John and
Linda (Little) MacDonald and
family of Goderich on the sudden
death of their daughter Heather
Lynne; as a result of an automobile
accident in Goderich on Dec. 9, in
her 21st year.
Her mother, Linda, who was
injured in the same accident, was
transferred by air ambulance from
the Goderich hospital to St.
Michael's Hospital, Toronto, where
she remains in serious condition.
Linda Little was married to John
MacDonald at the United Church in
Dungannon. She resided here with
her parents Jim and Irene Little. We
wish Linda a speedy recovery.
Harvey and Betty Reid of
Southanijton'visited with Dick and
Doreen Park for a few days last
week.
Dungannon Play School, under
the direction of Dawn Tucker,
presented their • Christmas concert
and carol singing for parents and
grandparents on Dec. 9. Santa Claus
arrived with bells and elves, brin-
ging gifts and treats for all.
A special welcome to Father
Patrick Veridan, C.R. to St. Augus-
tine Roman Catholic Church. Father
Pat was ordained on Feb. 10, 1946
and has studied and served in every
continent except South America.
His mother Mrs. May Sheridan was
a former resident at Kingsbridge
where she taught school.
The Kingsbridge Parish Hall was
crowded for Christmas Family
Party, co-sponsored by the Catholic
Women's League and Knights of
Columbus following the Dec. 12,
morning mass.
The pot luck dinner was followed
by Christmas caroling; first by the
little ones followed by the adults,
led by Laurie Dalton.
The parish gift to Father Harry
Reitzel, C.R. was a solid oak
dinette set. Delores Van Osch was
presented with the CWL Maple
Leaf Service Pin, Fran Riegling and
Theresa Redmond - 50 year and
Loretta Doherty 25 year member-
ship pins.
Door prizes were won by John
Howard and Natalie Hogan. Teresa
Courtney was the winner of the
special draw -a Christmas "Money"
tree.
In the true spirit of Chrisunas,
families shared a gift of food or a
toy for the St. Vincent de Paul or
Children's Aid. Santa delighted the
children with special treats.
The, annual Christmas turkey
dinner held at the Dungannon
Senior Citizen Centre on Dec. 6
was a tremendous success. Dinner

DUNGANNON
was prepared by the Senior mem-
bers and willingly served by the
young Lady Workers.
We did so .appreciate the fact of
sitting and enjoying our dinner,
served and cleaned up later by the
girls. .-
Featured speaker was Neil
McGavin of Walton, whose
humorous presentation, gave us the
best tonic of all -laughter.
The Huron County Christmas
Bureau received a generous
donation on his behalf.
Our lovable Ed Stiles, accom-
panied the carol sing.
Following the program 10 tables
Of euchre were in progress with six
winners sharing the wealth: Ila
Pollock, Harvey Culbert, Bernice
Henry, Clarence Hoy, Louise
Brindley and Beth Dickson.
The table favors, were dbffee
mugs donated by the West
Wawanosh Mutual Insurance Com-
pany.
The Tuesday "clean up crew"
enjoyed turkey on a bun.
The Wednesday AM Fund Raisers
- had a taste of their wares, freshly
baked turkey and apple pies for
their dinner.
Wednesday evening, Dec. 8,
euchre was again the name of the
game. Joe and Teresa Courtney
were again the champion players.
Taking honors home also were
Eldon Culbert - Nel's Pearson and
a gal named "Sally".
The last euchre card party of the
season, will beheld on Dec. 15.
The new season begins Jan. 5.
A crokinole party was enjoyed at
the "Victorian Home" of Margot,
lacking one player. Wouldn't you
know "the Invisible Freddie" was
"top guy"?
Festive refreshments were served
by the Hostess.
Sympathy is extended to Larry
and Kelly (Weaver) Brindley on the
death. of her grandfather Glen
Weaver formerly of this area.
Funeral service was held from
McCallum and Paula Funeral
Home, Goderich, with burial in
Chatham.
Congratulations are extended to
Susan Cooke and Lorne Alton on
the occasion of their marriage
which took place on Friday, Dec.
10, at Lucknow United Church.
The ceremony was performed by
Rev. W.A. Bresnahan with Mae and
Bill Hunter as their attendants. This
was a double celebration for Lorne
whose birthday co-insided with his
wedding day.
Worship Service at Dungannon
United Church was under the
Leadership of lay minister Susan
Minn, Exeter.
"Joy", was the theme for
candlelighting on the Third Sunday
of Advent with readers being Jan
Logtenberg and daughter Jocelyn.
The CGIT group went carol singing
throughout the Village on Dec. 13,
much to the enjoyment of the -shut-
ins.

OPP recover stolen vehicle•
Kincardine OPP recovered a
vehicle stolen from Teeswater.
The OPP received a call on Dec.
10 of a pick up truck in a ditch at
the Kinloss town line.
The vehicle had been reported
stolen on Dec. 9 from a Teeswater
construction company.
The dash had been smashed, the
radio stolen and the front scat had
been set on fire.
Staff sergeant Al Neville said the
fire had burned itself out.
Walkerton OPP are investigating.
On Dec. 12, three, 12 -hour sus-
pensions were given out at a Fes-
tive Ride check on Highway 21 in
Underwood.
The first suspension was issued at
1 a.m. to a 19 -year-old Walkerton
area man.
The second was issued to a man
from Clifford at 1:56 a.m.
The third suspension, was issued
to a 34 -year-old Tiverton area man
at 2:09 a.m.
