Mr. and Mrs. Fred Page
celebrated their Golden Wedding
anniversary on Saturday Dec. 4th at
the home of their daughter and son-
in-law, Dr. Iman and Katharine
Mohamed of Toronto. A family
dinner and reception were enjoyed.
Others present were Richard and
Irma Page and girls of Burlington,
Andy and Cathy Page and boys
from here. Friends and neighbors
extend heartiest congratulations on
this special occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Van Dam
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Harkness at Tillsonburg on the
weekend. Also visiting there were
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Freeman and Mr.
and Mrs. Wayne Snyder.
Word was received here of the
death of Gordon Statters, son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Denzil Statters
and nephew of the late William and
Annie Statters of Con. 10.
Nina McDonald, who has left our
village and has taken up residence
at Huron Villa Ripley, was honored
with al luncheon and farewell gift
on Sunday after the Presbyterian
Church service.
We extend sympathy to the
family of the late Alice Thomson
who passed away on Nov. 23rd at
the River Glen Haven Nursing
home in her 86th year. Alice was
the former Alice Hodgins, daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Agnes has din
Mr. and Mrs. Barry Gillespie,
Aylana and Amanda of Corunna,
Olive Gillespie of Sarnia, and Irene
Farrier of Wingham were Friday
evening supper guests with Agnes
Farrier.
Betty Armstrong, of the village,
along with her sister, Nellie Brock
of Londesboro attended the anniver-
sary service on Sunday at Christ's
Anglican Church, London. They
spent the evening with their sister-
in-law Gladys Clift, London.
Bob, Lois and Alexander Ross, of
Waterloo spent the weekend with
his parents, Don and Jean Ross.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sleightholm
visited last weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Sleightholm and family
in Brantford.
Mr. and Mrs. ,Archie Purdon
visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Bruce Cluney of Toronto.
The Whitechurch card party was
held on Monday night at the home
of Don and Jean Ross with four
tables in play.
High lady was Norma Rintoul,
high man Elmer Sleightholm, low
lady Mildred McClenaghan and low
man Hugh Simpson. The parties
will resume in January at the home
of Dave and Evelyn Gibb.

The Whitechurch United Church
Women held their Christmas
meeting on Dec. 1 at the home of
Agnes Farrier with dessert being
served.
Mary Chapman and Evelyn Gibb

a reading called An Everyday God,
and led in prayer for the beginning their award_,
of Christmas. Evelyn read A Members served a delicious lunch
Christmas Journey and followed of fruit bread squares.

Sympathy is extended to the
family of the late Ethel (Banne-
rman) Whytock of Teeswater who
passed away in the Wingham
Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The Holyrood Womens Institute
held their annual Christmas dinner
in the Institute room at the hall on
Thursday at noon.
Joan Murray presided and wel-
comed everyone and read a
Christmas poem. The Ode was sung
and the Mary Stewart Collect was
repeated and all . Sang grace. The
table and room were nicely
decorated.
Everyone . enjoyed a delicious
Christmas dinner which was fol-
lowed with the gift exchange, carol
singing and a carol contest by Mrs.
Murray.
A short business period followed
and Christmas readings were given
by Mary Scott, Barbara Murray,
Joan Murray, Grace Eckenswiller,
Betty Johnston, Agnes Hodgins,
Wilma Elliott, Betty Bushell, Bessie
Maulden, Myrtle Percy, and Lor-
raine MacPherson.

Agnes favored everyone with an
organ selection and conducted a
contest on Christmas carols.
Donations were made to Fred
Victor Mission, Menestung Camp,
Five Oaks, Scott Mission and
Medical Electives.

Constable John Marshall, Com-
munity Service Officer with the
Goderich OPP, was the special
speaker at the Whitechurch 4-1-1
achievement night on Nov. 30.
He showed a film on winter
safety and asked the boys and girls
questions.
Jenn Moir and Toni Beyersbergen
were the masters of ceremony. Two
skits were put on by the club on
safety in and around the home and,
what to look for in different
materials in clothing.
Cathy Moir conducted a contest
on the parts of a sewing machine.
Crystal Fynn and Christy. War-
wick performed by tap dancing.
The club averaged 18 members
with leaders Kathleen Elliott and
Cathy Moir.
A display of sewing and safety
projects were on display.

A porluck dinner, with an abun-
dance of food, was the start for the
Christmas meeting of the Lucknow
Presbyterian Women's Missionary
Society, held in the church on Dec.
1. Rev. Peggy Kinsman was able to
be present for the dinner and gave
thanks to God for the food and
fellowship.
Mildred Loree opened the
meeting with a poem, Christmas
Questions, and prayer. The worship
service from the Glad Tidings was
followed and included several
Christmas carols and readings.
Rollcall was answered with a
stamped Christmas card to be sent
to one of our shut-ins.
The reports from the secretaries
and treasurer were presented,
showing another very successful
year helping out the mission work
of the church.
Peggy Henderson installed the
new officers for the coming year:

Donalda Moffat, first vice; Norma
Raynard, second vice; Mildred
Loree, secretary; Grace Gammie,
treasurer; Maudie Fisher, historian;
Rhoda MacKenzie, Glad Tidings;
Celia Aitchison, Grace Gammie,
Phemie Cameron, Audrey Mac-
Donald, Alice Taylor and Joanne
Vanderveen, social committee.
Shirley Hawthorne gave a vote of
thanks to retiring president Mildred
Loree and asked for continuing help
in the coming year.
The meeting concluded with
joined hands in a circle of
friendship with members singing
Blest Be the Tie that Binds, fol-
lowed by the Mizpah Benediction.
