The Wallace Novice A team was
unable to take a 3 - 2 victory away
from Lucknow when the two teams
met in Wallace on Nov. 29.
Stuart Moffat opened the scoring
with an unassisted high shot, after
travelling' down the ice. Wallace
came back to tie the gar:. , but
Tyler Hamilton put in a rebound off
a boomer shot from Bob Raymond
and Tim Eadie at the blue line to
move ahead 2 - 1.
The second period provided lots
of action for the crowd with Wal-
lace getting the tie goal midway
through the period.
Mark Hackett came back with his
line mates, Adam Martin and Rick-
ey Andrew, to core the go-ahead
goal from a perfect passing play.
Lucknow managed. to successfully
kill a possible goal saving penalty
in the final minute of the game.
Ripley vs Lucknow
A very strong Ripley team proved
a tough match as they defeated the
hometown team 7 - 1 on Saturday
morning.
Shea Dickie replied late in the
first period to Ripley's two earlier
goals. Assists on the goal went to
Tyler Hamilton and Sandy
Lougheed.
During second period action,
Ripley opened up and gave Luck-
now's goalie Billy Johnston, who
stood up really well, a heavy
workout.
Try as they might, Lucknow was
not able to make good on several
set up plays during the third period.
Team standings: 3 wins, 2 losses.
John Smith will be home
from Romania this week
Welcome home from Romania to
John Smith in the 10th. It's hard to
believe that his year there has gone �URPLE GROVE
so quickly.
Morley and Deanna Scott of
Purple Grove enjoyed an evening
with Elizabeth and Harvey
Nicholson recently.
Edna Stanley and Bette McLeod
joined others from the hospital for
a luncheon at the Embassy recently.
Purple Grove Bible Study met at
the home of Marion Gamble.. Next
week it will be at Olwen
McAuley's home.

Florence Nicholson of Millarton,'
Mary Thompson of Chesley. and
Marjorie Thompson.
Weekend visitor with Marjorie
Thompson was Chqrylr Stevenson or
Michigan.
Katherine Collins, Wilda and
Harvie Thompson, Merle and
Gerald Rhody, Allan and Ann
attended the 25th wedding anniver-
sary celebration for Nancy and
Brian King in the Teeswater town
hall on Saturday evening.
Wilda Thompson was hostess to
the Purple Grove Women's Institute
on Wednesday.. Following a dessert
of cake and ice cream served by
Marion Gamble and Marjorie
Thompson, president Dianne
Simpson opened the meeting. A
thought on "If I had my Life to
Live Over" brought some smiles.
Dianne also had the scripture read-
ing of the Christmas Story. Roll
call was answered by 20 members
by "Bring and Brag" with many
.ideas being shared. Convenor Kay.
Collins introduced the guest speaker
for the afternoon Fran Elphick who
gave a very informative demopstra-
tion on making corsage's. Members
brought flowers and ribbons and
went home with beautiful, corsages,
their own handiwork. Kay then
conducted several contests and
quizzes and carol singing, Ladies
who brought cookies for the cookie
exchange went home with a delight-
ful box of- goodies.
Remember the Christmas concert
at the centre on Saturday, Dee. 18
at 7 p.m.
Dinner guests with Gladys Arnold
last Tuesday evening were Peggy
MacDonald, Donald and. Anne
McCosh and Isobel Brooks.

Bantam A's
put it all
together
for victory
A well -played game, excellent
goaltending and good penalty kil-
ling by the Lucknow Bantam A's
gave the team a 7 to 3 victory over
Ripley on Nov. 30.
With Ryan Courtney in net, Luck-
now's fast -skating allowed them to
score a quick first goal by Jeff
Porter from Ed. Courtney. Courtney
followed on a pass from Porter and
Brent Cameron to end the period up
two goals.
In period two, Lucknow added
five more goals from Lee Drennan,
unassisted; Glenn Ferguson from
Colin Becker and Kevin Rintoul;
Michael Menary from Jeff Porter;
Rintoul from Ferguson; and Becker
from Ferguson and Trevor Moffat.
Ripley managed one past
Courtney to end the second Luck -
now 7, Ripley 1.

Lucknow vs Kincardine
During play last Wednesday at the
Davidson Centre, Kincardine, the
Lucknow team had to kill off
several penalties to stay in the game
and bring home a 3 to 2 win.
Lucknow settled down in the
second period and replied with
three goals, to end the period ahead
3 to 1. Jeff Porter scored from
Trevor Moffat and Ed Courtney;
Courtney scored from Porter and
Mike Menary, and Courtney again
from Brent Cameron.
Goalie Tyler Brooks kept Kincar-
dine off the board.
Kincardine managed one goal
during third period action but
couldn't find the equalizer.
