In an October story about the restoration project, a portion of a letter, relaying the delightful reac- tion of a youngster who received one of the Dankwardts' bikes, was published. It was at that time that Ken Pearce, of the Gateway Centre in Guelph, told the Dankwardts he could use another 10 before Christmas: Well, the Dankwardts delivered on that request. Last week, Mr. Pearce travelled to the Dankwardts' West Wawanosh Township home totpick up the 10. "new" bicycles. Not content to rest on their laurels, they now aim to complete another 10 bikes before Christmas. Bill and Freda said the response to their plea for donations of used bikes has been tremendous, after various articles were printed in area „publications. One call carte from as far away as Southampton and they are trying to make arrangements to pick up the bikes. Bill said it takes between three and five used bikes to make a "new" bike in addition to purchasing some items. Knowing that some child's day has been made a little brighter is all the thanks Bill and Freda Dankwardt need. With a lot of love and work, and some capital outlay, Bill and Freda Dankwardt take discarded bicycles, as pictured above, and turn them Into "new" ones for under privileged children.
