delighted to announce the arrival of
their daughter, Rebecca Helen, at
Wingham and District Hospital, on
Oct. 23, 1993, weighing 8, lbs. 8 oz.
Rebecca is a first grandchild for
William and Rhonda Schnare and
Bruce and Bobbi Schell.

meeting is
peace and hope
Sixteen members attended the
Nov. 3 meting of the South Kinloss
Women's Missionary Society held
at the home of Freda Maclnnes.
Kathy Howald ' opened the
meeting and spoke of so much evil,
villains, sin and unrest in the world
'today. She said our prayers should
be for peace and hope. Mrs.
Howald concluded with a poem
Remembrance, followed with the
prayer ,for peace by Wilma Clarke.
0 God in Ages Past was sung
followed by the minutes from
secretary Marilyn MacIntyre.
The rollcall was answered with a
scripture verse with the word
freedom. Mrs. Howald gave a short
review from The Glad Tidings and
The Record:
The Bible Study was presented by
Margaret De Boer on the topic
peace. She read from Romans com-
menting that peace is belonging to
God. We can have peace with god.
The final chapter of the Study
Book, Nations of the Middle East,
was received by Ruth Langen. For
many Christians in these far away
nations, the future is- uncertain.
People are living under difficult
circumstances. There is an appeal
for help to end human suffering.

and Ruth was followed with the
offering and prayer by Jane Hamil-
ton.
Rena Forster will be hostess for
the December meeting. Please bring
$2 to pay for a plant for shut-ins.
Mrs. De Boer gave the closing
prayer.
Family hosts anniversary
for Walter and Jean Willits
The Willits family honored their
parents, Walter and Jean, on the
occasion of their 45th wedding
anniversary at the home of Bruce
and Barb on Sunday, Nov 7
Present besides their family of Mac,
Murray, Bruce, Alan and Kathy and
their families which includes 11
grandchildren, were Watts' sisters
Lida Rcidt and Eva and Emerson
Rideout, also friends Bert and
Isobel Garniss, Ken and Elleda
Laidlaw and Catharine Andrew.
Congratulations from many other
friends around Lucknow. •
Rev. Bill and Peggy Henderson
visited last week with Mary
(Douglas) Leishman at Markham.
On the weekend they visited their
daughter Margaret in Toronto, also
Clara, home from Bloomington,

There were six tables of shoot in
play at the Drop in Centre on Nov.
5. Vera Purvis and Harold Gardner
took high lady and gent respec-
tively. Grace Gibson and Richard
Grant were in low spots, with Rita
Gilmore taking the most shoots.
Visiting with Louise MacDonald,
at Pinccrest Nursing Home, on the
occasion of her 91st birthday were
Jessie Johnston, Catherine Andrew,
Jean West, Marianne Smeltzer and
Mabel MacDonald, all cousins.
Teams were victorious
at soccer tournament

"Way to go Dennis!" The six,
seventh and eighth graders par-
ticipated in a soccer tournament on
Friday, Oct. 23, in Goderich. Both
the boys' team and the girls' team
did very well. The girls placed first
in the tournament and the boys
placed third. Congratulations to
I• both teams.
When the fifth and sixth graders
were asked to write, an essay on
what • they did on their four-day
weekend, all of them had something
to say. "I babysat," Nadege said,
while'Ashley went to Waterloo with
her mom,, aunt, grandma and
cousin. Adam helped his dad build
a fence; Phillip played hockey and.
Nathaniel went to hi§ grandparents'
anniversary. Julie had pizza with
members of her' church; Jessa
watched a movie . and Steven
finished two books and unloaded 10
loads of corn. Some of the kids
played, some watched television,
and some did both. All of the
students enjoyed the holiday.
"I have a maple leaf, do you?"
The grade three and four students

have been busily working on leaf
projects. The children collected
different kinds of leaves and posted
them on posterboard. Good work!
"I have two sisters and a brother".
The' students in Grades 1 and 2
have been doing a social studies
project called "No Place Like
Home". They paint pictures and
make graphs having to do with their
families. Thcy also made floor
plans of rooms in their houses and
of their backyards.
They have an Evaluating Centre
where' they decide what's helpful
for them; or what's harmful to
them. For instance, parents are
helpful, knives are not. They cut
out magazine pictures and pasted
them either on the helpful side Of
the paper, or the harmful side.
Bonne fete! The entire school
celebrated their french teacher's
(Madame Meurs) birthday on Nov.
4.
Chamber of Commerce
gearing up for season
The Lucknow and District Cham-
ber of Commerce met on Nov. 3 at
the Mayfair Restaurant. President
Ben Hogervorst welcomed a new
member Sandra Harmer; co-owner
of Cedar Lane Design, St. Augus-
tine.
Concentrating on ticket sales for
the Nov. 20 dinner and dance was
encouraged. Tickets are available
from The Sentinel, Margie's
Specialty Shoppe and Lucknow
Farm Supply. Get your tickets

evening.
The Community Service Award
plaques, to be presented at the
banquet, have been received.
Events to look forward to include
the annual Christmas tree lighting
on Nov. 26 and the evening Santa
Claus parade on Dec. 3.
