attended the Women's Institute
Rally at Paisley United Church on
Thursday.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Allan Pennington (nee Valerie
Brown) who were married on Satur-
day at the Sacred Heart .Church,
Teeswater. Some from here at-
tended the wedding and also the
reception.
Recent dinner guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Bill MacPherson, Holyrood,
were Mr. and Mrs. Dean Wilson, of
Stoney Creek, and Mr. and Mrs.
Arnold -Riley of Milverton.
• Presbyterian WMS
The Kinlough Presbyterian WMS
held their praise and Thanksgiving
meeting on Oct. 20 with Isabel
Thompson in charge. She extended
a welcome to all present as this was
their entertaining day. She gave two
readings and a prayer.

sang a duet accompanied by Lor-

McEwan received• the offering and
Nina McDonald gave the offertory
prayer. Margaret Van Rooyen sang
a solo playing her own accom-
paniment on her autoharp. Helen
Keith favored with a piano solo.
Lorraine MacPherson, Doris
Paulusse and Barbara Bushel sang a
vocal trio.
Readings were given by Kay
Thacker, Elizabeth Dickie, Marilyn
Reid and Betty Bushell. Connie
Donnan sang a solo accompanying
herself on her accordion.
A group of Lucknow ladies sang
a chorus with Donalda Moffat at
the piano Barbara Bushell favored
with an instrumental number.
Grace was sung and all went to
the Sunday 'School room where a
delicious lunch was served. Each
group expressed their appreciation
for such a pleasant afternoon.
Junior WI members try
basket making at meeting
The Oct. 12 meeting of the Luck -
now Junior Women's Institute was
held at the business of Kathy
Leeman in St. Helen's. Members
learned how to make a beginner's
oval basket, with Sharon Nivins and
Audrey Ritchie assisting Kathy. She
is the . owner of Kathy's
Handcrafted Baskets, and gives
classes from September until
December.
Thank you notes were read from
Lori Exel, who was sponsored by
the group in the Lucknow Fair
Queen pageant, and from the. Pal-
liativeCare Services for a donation.
An invitation was received to the
WI's' 855th anniversary. The FWIO
is offering a special edition , collec-
tor's plate in honor of 100 years of
institute in Ontario. Members will
be able to order one or more.
A donation was made to the
Lucknow Greenway Project to be
used towards benches • to be
constructed over the winter.
The next meeting is .changed to
Nov. 8, 6:30 p.m at the home of
Sharon Nivins. A cookie exchange
will be held. Members are : also
asked to bring ideas for the seniors'
Christmas party, scheduled for
29. Nov.I
Garry Leeman acted as judge of
the decorated pumpkins brought to
the meeting, with. Cecilia Mitten -
burg and Nancy Aitchison winning
first and second respectively.
It's Block Parent Week

designed to assist children if;
- they are bothered by strangers
- they are sick
- they are injured
- they are being bullied
- they are bitten or frightened by a
dog
Everyone in the household is
security screened and if accepted by

Community Living Association's
annual lottery. The rernaining 20

Lucknow hosts
meeting for
District 8
The Lucknow and District
Horticultural Society hosted the
District 8 board meeting on Oct.
23. The District consists of 19
societies.
Lucknow representative is Joan
Robinson,
.The meeting was chaired by
Shirley McKague,Wingham,
District 8 Director. Important
information from the Ontario
Horticultural Association was
dealt with and plans were made
for the District annual to be held
in Markdale, on Apr. 30, 1994.
