Mildred McClenaghan and John McKinnon visited one day last week with Mr. and Mrs, Roy McIn- nes of Goderich. On Saturday they attended the funeral of Russel Jervis of Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Mas lzumi of Toronto also attended. The village and surrounding area canvass for the Arthritis Society raised $292. Canvassers were Mary Simpson, Norma Rintoul, Janet Little and Jean Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Ted McClenaghan of Kitchener, Carl and Margaret McClenaghan Mildred McClenaghan and John McKinnon were Sunday visitors with Don and Cheryl Saunders of Goderich. Whitechurch WI The Whitechurch Women's Institute held their October 13 meeting in the hall. This was the institute's 65th anniversary since starting in Whitechurch. Convener and hostess was Jean Tiffin. President Marjorie Wall read a poem "My Memory Chest". Invitations were accepted from Lucknow and Maitland in Win- gham. The rollcall was name a goal you would like to reach and name a quilt pattern. Mrs. Tiffin gave the motto "goals are like stars, they may never be reached, but they can always be a guide." Guests were present from St. Helen's, Wingham and Kairshea. A group of Kairshea ladies sang two numbers and Mrs. Hamilton, of Wingham, gave a reading. The guest speaker was Isobel Underwood of Southampton, who showed pictures of quilts and gave some history on them. Different members had arranged a quilt display in the hall. Mrs. Tiffin gave two readings on quilting. An anniversary cake was on display. Gertrude Durnin is a charter member of the WI. A social time and lunch brought the meeting to a close. The next Meeting is Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. with a pot luck supper. Former Lochalsh • man visits in BC It is hoped that eyery'one in the community 'had a very pleasant Thanksgiving. George MacDonald, son of Finlay and Margie MacDonald, and formerly a resident of the area, had a 10 -day visit with his brother, Tom MacDonald and family in Fort Nelson, British Columbia. Gordon, Nora and Glen Robb had their Thanksgiving dinner on Sun- 'day in ,Chesley with Bob and Sandra Darling and family.
