pleased to announce the safe arrival
of Justin David, born Sept; 17,
1993 at Kincardine hospital,
weighing 9 lbs. 3 oz. Proud
grandparents are Wayne and Carol

Jantje Vandermeer, Kincardine.

on the death of Ricky and Eddie's
brother of Palmerston.
Weekend visitors with Dons and
Fraser MacKinnon of Lucknow
were Dave and Cathy MacKinnon,
Robin and Dan Logan of Thorald.
The MacKinnon and Logans were
old neighbours when- they both
lived on the fourth concession.
Denver and Brenda Dickie and
children of Sutton were overnight
guests on Wednesday and attended
the plowing match on Thursday.

Rita Bryan
1911 -"1993
Rita Margaret Bryan, beloved
wife of the late Thomas Bryan, died
in East General Hospital, Toronto,
on Sept. 22, 1993 in her 83rd year.
She was born in Ashfield
Township on • July 19, 1911, a
daughter of the late Joseph and
Grace (Westrope) Courtney.
Mrs. Bryan graduated as an R.N.
from St. Joseph's Hospital, Toronto,
in 1943. .
She leaves to mourn a daughter.
Vivian Bryan, and sisters Marie
Iudge of Jackson, Michigan, Vivian
Hogan of Lucknow, and brothers
Fred of Toronto and Joe of Dun-
garuion, along with. many nieces
and nephews.
Mrs. Bryan was predeceased 'by
sisters Grace Austin and Fay
Courtney, and brothers Edward and
Leo.
Mass of the Christian burial took
place at St. Bridget's Roman
Catholic Church, Toronto, with
burial in Kingsbridge Cemetery.
Father Peter Pigott officiated at the •
graveside service. •
Pallbearers were Rick Palla, Mike
Courtney, Joe Austin, 'Gary
Courtney, Fay Telfer and Jim Sin -
nett.
' David Franklin Anderson
1912-1993.
David Franklin Anderson was the
last surviving member of his im-
mediate family. He died at Sun-
.nybrook Hospital in Toronto, on
Sept. 18, 1993.
Born in Ashfield Township on
July 5, 1912, he was the eldest son
of-Ruth.and-F-red-Anderson—He-had
moved to Toronto in the late fifties
where he worked in real estate,
never officially retiring from it.
David was predeceased by • his
brother Charles, two sisters Dorothy
and Norma (Mc.Donagh) all of
Lucknow and his granddaughter
Deborah Jean Casson LeBlanc
(1980.- 1983), Mount Hope.'
He is survived by his wife Jean
(Trenchard) of Toronto; his four
children and six grandchildren:
Mary Charles/Lioncl Parr (Randle
and Alecia Charles), Ingersoll;
Norma Anderson (Robert LeBlanc),
Mount Hope; Douglas and •wife
Beverly (Sharon, Richard, Peter),
Hamilton; John, Pierceland, Sas-
katchewan; their mother, his former
wife Dorothy, Beachville; sister-in-
law Anne Anderson; 7 nephews and
two niece..
Pallbearers were Randy Charles,
Robert LeBlanc, Barry; Rod and
Wayne McDonagh, Anthony
McGratii and Lionel Parr.
The funeral was held in Toronto,
on Sept. 21 at the Church of the
Transfiguration and interment took
place Sept. 22 at Greenhill
Cemetery, Lucknow.
Local woman was a hostess
at IPM lifestyle tent
Lucknow was well represented at
the International Plowing Match
near Waikenon last week both with
workers and sightseers.'
Joan Robinson was honored to be
one of the hostesses in the Family
Lifestyles tent on Thursday.
Congratulations to Jeff Gammie
and Kristi Stanley, who exchanged
wedding vows in the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church on Saturday
afternoon.
The first tenants were moving
into the new apartments on Albert
Street on the weekend.
Fred and Anne Loree of Ayr
spent the weekend with Austin and
Mildred Loree. They all attended
the wedding of Lorne and Betty
Williams in the Victory Fellowship
Baptist Church, Hanover on Satur-
day evening.

98th birthday on .Oct. 5.

play at the Drop in Centre last
Friday.
High players' were Anna Dexter
and Andy Scott, with Ruth
Thompson and Cliff Menary in low
spots. Ella Hand had the most
shoots..
There seems to be a lot of sick-
ness around just now so we are
hoping for better health for all those
who are having problems at this
time. '
Sympathy to the family of Ernest
Carter who passed away in Bruce
County Hospital, Walkerton the end
of the week with funeral services
on . Monday, from MacKenzie and
McCreath.
Visits brother in Windsor
Lynda Thacker spent a few days
at Windsor with her brother Steve
Bell and attended at ball game in
Detroit.
Peggy Palmer of Welland came to
pick up her mother, Jean Phillip's,,
who has been visiting with her
sister Bessie Maulden during the
past week.
A number from here'attended the
International Plowing Match which
was held near Walkerton during the
week. It was opened by Prime
Minister, Kim Campbell, the
weather was good which added to
the success of the events which
took place during the five days of
the match. •
Dan Rhody, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Rhody, is a patient at Owen
Sound Hospital after an accident at
his home. We send our best get
well wishes.
Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Giffen of
Lansing, Michigan, motored . to
Kinlough to visit her sister and
husband Mr. and Mrs. Reg Powell.
They all enjoyed a day at the
Plowing Match to celebrate their
birthdays.
On Thursday Pastor Robert Don-
nan held a service at Pinecrest
Manor 'for the residents there, Thel-
ma Powell accompanied at the
piano for the hymn singing. All was
much appreciated by the dear folks

Elgin visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Don Bushell.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bushell,
Rachel and Whitney helped with
the entertainment at the Inter-
national PlowingMatch at Walker-
ton. Bruce and Barbara sang, and
Rachel and Whitney did step -dan-
cing.
John Hodgins (Sr.), and Mr. and
Mrs. Don McEwan attended the
Veterans' banquet at the Legion
Hall on Friday evening.
Bill Burt of .Kincardine and
formerly of here underwent surgery
at Owen Sound Hospital, and is
home again. We send our best get
well ,wishes.
Fourteen in . kindergarten

Ritsema, Heather Lootsma
School has started again and this
year 84 students are enrolled at
Lucknow and District Christian
School. Fourteen of these children
are in kindergarten. _
Mrs. Nonkes has resumed
teaching the Grade 1 and 2 class
ernr y eave. She now
has a healthy baby boy, Jacob.
Welcome back Mrs. Nonkes!
The school body welcomes the
Wynjas, a new family that has
moved to the Lucknow community.
We hope you feel at home here.
"Mom. Mom. I'm going to
kindergarten!" The children in Mrs.
Bakelaar's class are excited about
the beginning of school. When
asked what .they liked the most
about kindergarten so far, they all
had something to say.
Both Patricia and Kristopher like
naptime.
"I like reading the best," says
Lincoln.
"Recess is our favourite," say
Lisa, Joelle, Carolyn, Ryan and
Michelle.
Eating lunch at school is Ashley's
favourite, while Jessica, Melissa,
and Alexandria agree playing is
best.
Christina likes painting, while
Jeremy isn't too sure what he likes
yet.
"Let's go to the fair." It's that
time of year again. This year
L&DCS had many items entered in
`DCS EXPRESS
the Lucknow. Fall Fair. Bethany
Luchies, an eighth grade student,
won the award for the girl with the
most points. She was presented
with a medal and some money by
au Klopp. -
The rides at the Fair were also
much appreciated. There were six
this year and the students loved
them.
L&DCS also entered the tug-of-
war. The boys' team won second
and whilethe girls' team didn't
place, they had fun.
The school had a float in the
parade with. the slogan "God's got
the . whole world in His hands."
Children from . Kindergarten to
Grade 4 were dressed in costumes
from around the world.
Some of the students took the
phrase "summer break" literally.
Fraser broke his left arm, while
Beth broke her right leg. Heather
also managed to dislocate her
shoulder, while Tim's lip looked a
sight at the beginning of the school
year.
"Where's the beef'?" L&DCS
sponsored a food booth all last
week at the IPM as a fundraiser for
the school. Thanks to our moms
and dads for helping our booth
become a success.
