McCormlcks host birthday function -
Bob and Doreen McCormick's
home on Albert Street was the
perfect setting for agathering of 66
friends and relatives on. Sept. 19 to
celebrate the 70th birthday of
Doreen's sister, Mrs. Carman Kaye
of Palmerston.
Cyril and Mary Boyle, daughter
Anne, and Cyril's sisters Bernadette
Boyle and May Mulhern enjoyed a
15 day motor trip down east. They
visited the Shrines in Quebec at
Cap de La Madeleine and Ste.
Anne de Beaupre. They journeyed
on to New Brunswick and Nova
Scotia. In Halifax, Ma'y's daughter
Rita joined them for the five day
trip from Corner Brook to St.
John's, Newfoundland. Cyril and
Mary celebrated their 41st anniver-
sary at Winterholme Heritage Inn, a
century home just opened to the
public in July. They al toured
Cape Breton Island and I retur-
ning home via New Bruns ick and
the northern U.S. Congratulations
Cyril and Mary on your anniver-
sary.
Area recreation ball came to an
end last week for the 14 and 15
year old players. The round robin
between the three teams of Luck -
now, Port Albert and Dungannon
ended with Dungannon having the
best record. Team coaches were
Kent Alton Dungannon; Steve
Hackett - Lucknow, and Bill
Chisholm - Port Albert.
Congratulations to the Dungannon
team for steady improvement and
an excellent year of baseball.
Several Dungannon and area folk
attended the IPM near Walkerton
last week. While sometravelled to
the match for one -day only, others
stayed all week at' Jim Scott's or at
the trailer park where volunteer
entertainers provided good old tyme
musical programs from 7 to 11 p.m.
Congratulations to Don Nicholson•
who provided good guitar enter-
tainment with the "Alfalfa Group"
named.because of playing in a large
tent in the alfalfa field.
Marvin and Hannie Scott with
their tractor and wagon assisted
with some of the transportation to
and from the tented city.
Joe and Teresa Courtney were
guests at the IPM of Superior
Propane who sponsored their liquid -
propane powered John Deere 720
tractor at their tent.

ty, daughter of Clarence and Loret-
DUNGANNON
ta, R.R. 1, Dungannon, who was
named "The New You" during the
fashion program at the 1PM on
Saturday. She was given a complete
new ensemble.
Gordon H. Brindley purchased the
Heritage Home which housed the
antique display at the IPM.
Ruby and Les Richards of Toron-
to were weekend visitors with AJ.
Sherwood. AJ. and Les, an air
force buddy, were crew members of
the famous 409 Night Fighter
Squadron. The reminisced about
some of the World War II exploits
and viewed squadron VCR pictures
and those from the reunion held in
Winnipeg on Sept. 14.
A rabid fox was . spotted on the
farm of George Errington on Sun-
day morning, Sept. 26. Unfor-
tunately it managed to escape while
son Bill was in pursuit.
Sincere sympathy is extended to
the Courtney family on the death of
their sister Rita (Courtney) Bryan
on Sept. 22 at the East General
Hospital, Toronto. Joe and Teresa
Courtney, Vivian Hogan, John and
Joe Austin and Jay Catlin attended -
the wake and funeral in Toronto.
Burial was in the Kingsbridge
Cemetery. •
Several from the area attended the
Huron Bruce Branch. Canadian
Diabetes Association meeting at
McKay Centre, Goderich, on Sept.
20. Guest speaker was Jane Blears,
a member of the diabetes planning
committee for the prevention and,
delay of complications strategy.
K.K. Dawson received a unique
gift from Harold McGee on the
occasion of his 83rd birthday on
Sept. 22. It was an Erla Radio,
which was manufactured in the
'20s. It operated on six ,volt bat-
teries before the era of hydro. Ac-
companying the radio was a
receiving license dated Apr. 8;1926,
for the sum of $1 to Mervin Rich-
mond, Blyth. K.K. is Dungannon's
knowledgeable historian. -
Rebecca (Thompson) Gibbon of
Sundridge, formerly of this area,
visited Florence Berry, Goderich,
and Thompson relatives. ,Her son
Bob attended the IPM bringing his
mother to and fro.

relative/cominunity bridal shower
on Saturday evening at the Dungan-
non Agriculture Hall.
Tanya Maize, niece of the groom -
to -be Rob Maize, was chairperson
conducting a yes/no contest won by
Jane Ireland.
A standup introduction was
featured and Cassandra Ulch was
the happy little winner of the lucky
plate contest.
Dianne Maize addressed Lavonne,
assisted by sister Annette Ritchie
and the groom's sister Debbie
Robertson.
Four week old Jarid, son of Don-
na (Maize) and Nelson Caldwell
was the youngest person present.
George and Jean Errington visited
brother Jack Aitchison at Victoria
Hospital, London, following his
double heart bypass operation.
Congratulations to Lloyd. and
Doris Hodges, on the occasion of
their 50th wedding anniversary
Sept. 22. The family consisting of
Terry, Valerie, Debbie, Marsha,
Tim and Annette entertained their
parents at dinner at the White Car-
nation, Holmesville.
John and Marina Park spent the
weekend with daughter Glenda and
children Krystal and Joey in Lon-
don.
It's good to see Cynthia Anderson
up and about after a 10 -day stay in
Goderich hospital.
A large crowd amended the
benefit dance for the Jim Pentland
family on Friday evening at the
agriculture hall. They lost their barn
by fire on July 30. Star Spinners
provided the music courtesy of
Bonnie and Clair Hodges.
George and Millie (Anderson) of
Oakville were Wednesday dinner
guests with her sister, Helen/ and
Bob Stothers.
Carman Brindley has a new knee
and is navigating very well with the
aid of a cane.
"Family Paradise" is how Mary
Garriock describes their holiday in
Sarasota, Florida. Mary and Phil,
along with children Alex and Maris
were guests of Phil's parents James
and Sheila.
Brothers, Ian and David, and their
families were also present. A total
of 14 Garriocks enjoyed two weeks
residing in adjacent villas.
Nine tables of euchre were in
play at the Seniors Centre last week
with winners Kathleen Glen, Mabel
