Harvey and Becky Culbert were
among the 250 veterans and their
wives who attended the Perth a
Regiment. Reunion in Stratford
Armories, Sept. 11 and 12.
Since the last reunion held two
years ago some 65 veterans have
gone to their eternal award.
Because of the declining number of
veterans the wives were invited to
attend for the first time.
On Sunday they marched in a
body from the armories to St.
James Anglican Church where
services were held, then returned to
the Armories for a smorgasbord
luncheon.
Rev. Crawford Smith, active
overseas service padre to all
denominations, had passed away.
The Communion Service he used
overseas was presented • to the
Keeper of the Perth Regiment
Museum. This was very impressive
to see the white table cloths and the
Communion Kit all packed in the
little suitcase 12" x 18" x 4" that
Rev. Smith had .used on so many
occasions so many years ago. He
was a good friend, a good padre to
all religions. Rev. Smith 'preached
in the Presbyterian Church at
Guelph for 24 years after the war.
Harvey joined the Royal Canadian
Regiment in London in June 1940
and transferred in late 1940 to the
Perth Regiment. He served in Italy
and all of North East Europe. He
was in the Service for 51/2 years.
